Well done for basing you review on an entire event rather than just one evening. Thats a good start.
To be honest you make some good comments but the whole dialog thing makes no sense unless you were there. It is just incomprehensible.
To say they had toilet roll and baby wipes impressed you the most? Very critic.
More expensive than Malestrom? Duh! Economies of scale and big event vs small event! Work it out, of course small events are going to be more expensive.
Fully briefed NPCs - I personally like to be able to use my roleplay skills within a role. Sometimes the best encounters are the 30 second brief, you are bloke a go to point be and stall the players for 10 minutes.
Just for the record I was not at this event and have nothing to do with BRR I am just reviewing the review.
Its just I read this review and the review you gave Burnt is Clean (very unfair btw) and wanted to comment on the review.
Perhaps you should look at some the excellent reviews the likes of Jenko have done in the past.
Perhaps we should come up with some basic criteria to review events by?

I read both of Ash's Reviews and any review is better than no review as nothing else it provokes discussion. I have considered BRR but didn't really know much more than someone said I would like it and never taken in Burnt is Clean.
Based on Ash's reviews I would consider trying both of them now. My real problem is lack of time to be able to do that.
Also he said that he will go back to both of the games so that to me is a good thing tm.
As for guidelines for reviews I would like to see more reviews so anything which encourages them is a good thing. Something which says it has to follow this format would put me off writing them. I personally think Ash's reviews are pretty good as they are more than. 'Yeah great event do another one' which tells me nothing more than someone enjoyed themselves. I have no idea what they like or what was great about it where as you can read Ash's and see what he likes and not and why and see if these things would bother you.

| Nothing in the Burnt is Clean review put me off the event, because it all seemed to be communications breakdown and that happens to everyone once in a while. I did find some of the very aggressive responses to the review off putting. As for BRR - i did a review of it a couple of years ago, so its always good to get more up to date reviews. TomJ - I will try and find my previous review sometime if you like? Guidelines for reviews - i dont think this is necessary, and is likely to put people off doing it. The 'Good things' and 'bad things' summary is very useful IMO.

I think I may have read it back then but yes please.
At the end of the day reviews highlight games and remind people they exist so are a good thing imho to get people to consider them.

| I agree with the 'no guidelines to reviews' point. I think it's unnecessarily beaurocratic. I read both of Ash's reviews and thought of neither one of them as obviously unfair. I've not attended BiC or BRR and found Ash's comments on both to be helpful. I don't think that either review particularly put me off either game but was helpful in pointing out the good and bad points of each game. I do think that sometimes when a review goes out people can get overwhelmingly defensive, something which tends to set off my alarm bells. Matt J

| About the only thing I would say about 'no guidelines for reviews' is that one guideline which absolutely needs to be there is 'make your review balanced and constructive'. After all, a totally bad review is no better than a totally good review. If there are problems, organisers need to know how to solve them. But formatting etc... no, no guidelines needed there.
