I have made a provisional booking with the Gladstone scout centre in Chester for our next event. Details as they stand currently are as follows. Note these may change in the near future, I will post confirmed details when I have them.

Ruins of Empire

Date: 1st - 3rd Feb, 2008

Where: Gladstone Centre, near Chester (awaiting details)

Cost: TBC (awaiting details of site costs)

Sleeping arrangements - indoor sleeping. There are quite a large number of bunks at this site (about 30 if I remember right) which will be offered to crew first and then to players. Any remaining players will be able to sleep in the main hut which is also quite large and spacious (bring airbeds and camp beds). Place is also heated. There are hot showers and a very nice kitchen.

This will be the last event in what has been known as 'The Avar Cycle' and a lot of current plot threads look like they may be resolved (or at least made more complex...)

Ahem, as I may have mentioned in the past... 'Dibs!'

Now if only you'd actually taken that money I kept trying to foist on you I'd not have to fuss about getting my deposit in. ^_^

When I want your opinion, I'll read it in your entrails.

You've been on the 'provisional interested list' ever since the end of the last event...

To explain my booking system to anyone who may not have encountered it before, I have several 'levels' of player:

'Interested' - has said 'I really want to come to your event, when is the next one? Oh, I might be able to make that'

'Booked' - 'I want to come to this event, can you book me a place?'

'Confirmed' - 'here is some cash to book my place'

Basically, if there are limited places (as there sometimes are due to site requirements) then priority goes to confirmed then booked and then interested.

I generally prefer not to take money for bookings or deposits before an actual date is set. This is for a number of reasons:

1) There may not actually be an event at all. Even I am not sure if I do plan to run one until I have the booking in the bag. Even then it could be months before the event takes place.

2) You may not be available on the date set or able to get to the site booked or even be interested in the event description set (though we do try to make these interesting and open IC to all players and their characters)

Basically, I would prefer not to have to refund deposits etc if any of the above happens so I wait until there actually is an event and the details are announced before I open bookings.

For those who may be interested... IN a flood of enthusiasm following Artificer I have posted some IC posts on Paradox Realms http://www.paradoxrealm.co.uk/forum/index.php which is our main IC board.

Feel free to read it and post your own IC stuff...
