This has had to go here as I couldn't find any where else to put it as it's not Sci-Fi or Fantasy.

Fancy yourself as a Poirot or Miss Marple? Here's your chance.

We've been invited to run a LRP event at a hotel in Stoke-on-Trent. We are running a 1930s murder mystery in the style of Agatha Christie.

It's running on 23rd to 25th November at The George Hotel in Stoke-On-Trent. See http://www.georgehotelstoke.com/index.html

Priced at £250 or 1 person or £400 for two in a double or twin. This is all inclusive. The only thing you will need to pay for is your drinks as included in the price is:

Welcome drink and Dinner on Friday. Breakfast, Lunch, High Tea and Supper on Saturday. Brunch on Sunday.

Coach Trip to a pottery factory.

A Band in the evening.

En-suite Hotel Room including TV and Hostess Tray.

If we get 40 bookings then we will have exclusive use of the hotel. The hotel staff will running all the catering etc in full costume. We are putting on the a full immersion experience. You will be provided with a character brief in advance of the event. Each character will have their own aims and plot to keep you going all weekend. It will be up to yoiu to try and solve the murder. At the end of the weekend you will be asked to submit your suspicions and a prize will be awarded to someone who solves it.

Bookings are being dealt with by the hotel. Contact them on 01782 577 544. We will have a website up and running soon. In the meantime if you have any questions then please post here or pm us.

Thanks

Blibs and Jen.

I didn't put this post here as I think that this is a LARP weekend as it involves playing a role, live with actions.

I've walked round the whole hotel to work out where IC and OC areas will be, there will be GOD running. There will be plot, some of which will be player led. Granted you will be given a role as I need to make sure that I can get the mystery element into it, but I have written the character sheets so that you can take them wherever you fancy.

Murder Mystery weekends aren't normally LRP events, but then they aren't normally written and run by LARPers.

Is this a periphery, or an attempt to take LARP to a new genre?

I hope it's the latter.

Lovely as this sounds and I'd really fancy giving this a try posted this relatively close to the event and towards the end of the lrp season when most of us are spent up for the year and short of time to get places due to holiday being used up I think its just way out of my budget.

I hope something like this runs again in the future but with a lot more notice to raise that sort of cash. (I'm not saying its not good value just wow thats a huge amount of cash for most of us lrpers).

Thanks Ammo,

If this one works then the hotel chain will be getting me to run it again in other hotels in the chain next year. I'm going to try and run one early in the year when it's cold and you don't want to camp out in a muddy field.

I know that this is more than other LARP events, but knowing how much work is going into it and how many hotel staff, chefs, wime waiters etc we're going to have at our disposal then I think it's a fair price.

The price will include everything for the weekend, you'll only need to pay for extra booze. It's what you'll be charged for an all-inclusive weekend at a hotel, with LARP thrown in for extra fun.

We actually run Murder Mystery evenings / wekends as well as LRP events and know that they can be just as much fun, and a really good giggle for everyone involved.

So best of luck. Hope it goes really well
