Sorry Sean.  I was suffering from one of those roleplaying names to faces things. It was only when Dave and Lynda turned up that I thought "Oh that Dave and Lynda".  Dave even said if he had know he could have squeezed you in.

Players started at 5 oclock on the friday with what they were wearing and what they could carry. A few others were with them including a thrall to carry stuff. They had a walk in to a ceratin point and were then told to cross over a bridge and walk to a castle. As the castle was not initially visible it made it more interesting.

They saw the castle and walked over some fields and forded a river to get there.

King Alfred had his court at the castle and after some politics and oath swearing there was a baptism in the river for the danish hostage and as it was getting dark the King asked the local lord to provide horses to get them to Cleve quickly.

We lad them to the stables and put them on horses so they could ride across rivers and over dunes for about an hour before they dismounted. As none of the players knew they were actually getting on real horses there was a great deal of joy to be had watching the dawning realisation that yes they had to actually go the the stables where the real horses where and then get on them. They then had to walk over dunes and woods for about another hour or so to get to the village. They were harried by Danes on the way. They then feasted in the longhouse at the village and met many of the locals. Eventually at about 5 in the morning they got to sleep before being woken by a dawn (ish) raid at about 7:30.

Lots of fighting and many other adventures then took place.

The players wanted an extreme and epic game and we think we gave it to them.

Just looked at the photos. It looked what, else can I say epic! Until I was introduced to Dumnonni I didn't rate LRP very much but if there are more events like DC and LK then I have missed 10 years of excellent larping.
