Dark Secrets is a modern day, horror Live Role-Playing game based in the Coventry area of the west midlands. It is designed to be low rules, high immersion. The team has endevoured and succeeded to provide events that have scared players both in and out of character where possible. The themes of the stories can include almost anything that has been based in a horror film genre’s. That includes religious and occult themes. Inspirational films include Prince of Darkness, Exorcist III, Dog Soldiers, Evil Dead, Resident Evil and Silent Hill, to name a few. RPG inspiration includes CHILL, Call of Cthulhu and Kult. Within continuing soty lines, every character has something that they want to hide, some dark secret that haunts them. It could be an event in their past, or an unusual trait that people may misunderstand. There can be a supernatural link or not. Whatever it is, players can expect it to have a strong influence on the personality of their character. The more interesting the background, the more likely the Design Team will use it against you and make your experience as a player more interesting and personal. The world of Dark Secrets is not very different from our own. History is almost exactly the same. The only difference is that there is more evidence of the paranormal. More stories in the media, more people have experienced something they cannot explain. The paranormal is out there, but as far as society is concerned, it is the elephant in the room that everyone is ignoring. People will laugh off talk of ghosts, but the look in their eyes tells a different story
As a player of this system I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone who expects a high level of roleplaying from a modern day horror system....The team realy do pull out all the stops to provide a memorable value for money event.... I would seriously sugest that interested parties check out the website and give the Dark secrets team an email... http://www.darksecrets.org.uk/index.html
If when you talk...it apears I am genting smaller.......thats because I am walking away

| Why, thank you very much. We have a website (above) and also a (new) forum at www.darksecretslrp.freeforums.org Dark Secrets started in 2005 with a playtest and has ran five stories so far, and I hope there has been a steady increase in the depth of our stories and props. Our website has some photos from these past stories, usually in the early parts of the game. We are very much an amateur game, a small group of people who love horror and want to run it as LRP. We try to keep costs low and our games have so far been run at Rough Close Scout Camp, nr Coventry, using one small building with small player group, starting on Saturday afternoon and running until the small hours. Our next game will not happen until February 2008. It will be our first weekend event at a site away from Rough Close - as we need a building with many rooms, and will likely cost more than our previous games. Once a site has been found I will post up the final date and location. In the meantime, we are also launching an "action-horror" game called Aspects of Evil, that will be running its first game at Rough Close on Saturday 3rd November. This will be a "sister" game to Dark Secrets, with more emphasis on combat and action, but still firmly rooted in horror. Think Resident Evil. If you want any more information or would like to take part in a game, drop me a line at evilruss@darksecrets.org.uk.

| While I have your attention, the next game we are running is on Saturday, 3rd November 2007 from 4pm at Rough Close http://www.roughclose.org.uk/. It will not be our normal, Dark Secrets horror game, it is a "sister" game we are calling Aspects of Evil. It is slightly more action orientated and will have a more Resident Evil feel to it. This first game is a play test, I am currently brain storming the rules and things, the story is ready. If you are interested in playing, it is £25, the game will run from 4pm until approx midnight / 1am. We are also looking for crew, as the player group may be large and well-armed and we need lots of bodies to make sure they are challenged properly. (No catering will be provided - bring your own food / drink.) If you are interested, drop me a line. evilruss@darksecrets.org.uk
