christi (7/31/2007) Of course the question that leaps to mind is how exactly does one enforce physrep requirements? The same way we always do! Subtle subconscious bias toward people whose costume we like, and away from people who threaten to break our immersion.

PD Head Ref- but as all posts here count as being unofficial, you'll need to email rules@PD for the real deal. And in those oh so rare moments of going IC: Detric of the Bespoke Atelier (and your host for the erotic performance show) whilst my gnoll is on an extended leave of absence in deference to my ex-wife...

Excellent. At which point would the PC come to the Ref Desk to ensure they meet minimum requirement? Should we have "costume checkers" in the same way we have "weapon checkers"?

Paul Wilder (7/31/2007) "Excuse me but as you don't meet minimum phys rep, you can't go IC playing that character until you do...."And there should be an opportunity for that, since folk are meant to get their photographs taken before starting play.

Paul Wilder (7/30/2007) Interesting - I wonder if the minimum phys rep for that race should instead be insect mandibles/antennae instead? It might make life immediately easier (both for new Myrmidon players and observers), but it might also stifle creativity - if, for example, someone turned up with a fantastic praying mantis-style costume, without mandibles or antennae but with a lovely chitinous/insectile look about the face and limbs, I'd think that should be acceptable physrep. No problemo - the rules already cover that as their lovely praying mantis costume exceeds the minimum phys rep still meets the bl**dy obvious rule and hence they don't need to have the mandibles / antennae... It's the same rule that means you can be a great avian without following the min phys rep (of feathered face and brow) because you instead are wearing a latex beak and other bird like phys reps like using makeup markings for feathers.

Andy Raff (7/30/2007) I for one would love the power to wander the fields and assault all the shite dryads and golems out there who barely scrape by minimal phys-reps. I would also like to catch all the facets whose make-up consists entirely a gem on their forehead and spank them. Plus anyone with a mask on their forehead, or whose make-up does not cover their neck, hands, arms ... indeed every body part except a circular patch on the front of their face. Luckily for everyone concerned, neither Simon nor Raff are refs... I want to encourage as many players as possible to play non-humans as it adds to the atmopsphere of the game. IMO good makeup and phys-reps is its own reward as players react to you better and role-play with you without thinking 'I ain't talking to that bloke with a mask on his head until he pulls it down". Having said that I know how tough it is to wear makeup and masks etc for a weekend...
