Hey there

I thought I'd give my company a plug as I miss British gaming and still sell a lot of masks and costumes to you UK guys, and some in Europe.

If you are ever needing high quality animal/creature/monster masks for a game - have a look:
http://www.primalvisions.com

We're based in California, but the postage is not too terrible if we do it correctly.

This is really for people looking for the higher end costume stuff, and it's not cheap, but it is very high quality.
Here is an example of a mask which works well for larp:
http://www.primalvisions.com/Images/Portfolio/joust.jpg
You use your own eyes for excellent vision, it is lightweight, much less sweaty and stuffy than a latex mask and has a fully articulated jaw that moves as you speak. We can also make pose-able ears to give it more expression.
Even with the exchange rate in your favour, look to be spending about 1000 on a mask like the fox mask. I'm just saying this so I don't get a lot of emails of people getting the wrong idea about the price. However, on the rare occasion that you do need something like this, think of us.

We also have a range of latex "maned masks" which will set you back around 3-500.

(That is not including the costumes, although we can make these as well).

Looking for people
-----------------

I'm also always looking for people in the UK to make custom weapons and masks. They need to be of a good quality. I'd like to get in contact with Pete Williams, as I love his stuff. I would also like to find a person to make custom weapons, as we do not have anyone currently making these (though we do distribute for a few companies) and the need for them comes up from time to time.
If anyone wants a little work thrown their way under my company banner, let me know. We can discuss your prices. You may even see your stuff on TV or film.

Thanks for your time guys!!

Have to say that those masks are stunning

Are the prices you're indicating in US Dollars or British Pounds?

Though I'd love to own one of those, I think that £1000 UK pounds for a mask may be somewhat out of my price range

The first picture looks like a painting of a fox-headed man.
Lovely.
And yes, I'm sure that was L1000 not $1000, since it was given as taking the exchange rate into account.

Yea, it's $2,000 for the mask, so around 1000 pounds for a UK-er).

Still looking for someone to make weapons. Is there anyone interested out there?

At a Thousand Pounds Sterling for anything in the LARP arena in the UK I think to be honest you are pricing yourself out of the market place.  I don't know anyone that would pay that kind of money for anything other than metal armour of re-enactment or museum quality.  Or that would need something of such good quality but such high cost that might end up in a field in the rain.

May I add though that your work is stunning and i'd say "Film Prop Quality." Some of the very best.

I personally make latex/foam weapons and have done so for a number of years, but it's not something that i'd do "across the water."  UK-only really.  There is only one company i've seen in the States, but they don't make anything custom, so wouldn't suit your requirement.  Depending on what you want though, drop me a line and if you want my portfolio, go look at the website.

Otherwise, good luck with your projects and I hope it goes well for you.

I understand the high price issue. I'm very busy as it is with my usual commissions, but i've had a few larpers buying things recently, so I thought i'd mention it. Doing a few films atm, but I like to see my stuff back home.

Plus I like the connection to UK larp. I miss it since i've moved abroad. There was a time I was at an event every other week. I hope to make a Maelstrom next year.

I also do latex masks which are a lot more in keeping with larp, just I need to make them in batches, so usually don't take individual orders.

I was thinking of Maelstrom Tritoni when I made these:

Here's a WW1 blackbird:

...and some of you may recognise these

But thanks for the kind words!

Difficult to comment on the fur mask without seeing up close. Certainly that is not a thing I would spend any money on without seeing the product in my hand in advance. They look nice, however as with all masks its impossible to quantify quality from a static shot. However the quality of the furring on the build looks excellent.

Your latex masks however are embarrassingly overpriced if you think they are worth 300 to 500. You really need to check your market in the UK. I might go to that price range for a maker who was going to headcast me for the price as well and do a made to measure job....

The latex mask on my user pic for example has a total cost (inclusive of mask, mane and paint job.) to buying public of about 80-100 pounds.

Significantly less if you dont care about the quality of the hair extensions used.

On the other hand if people are happily paying that price let me know and i'll up my prices cos im obviously way behind the time!

Flannel - for something that looks that good (again, with the proviso that its as good "in the flesh") your mask looks absolute quality, very impressive.  Maelstrom?  If you are, would you mind coming to see me at Maelstrom or pm'ing me?  I'll be at the next fest.
