October is the logical date, 6 months after the last, it can't clash with stargate 04 (both games having mostly the same crew and refs) what with it being most likly to take place in early november, and december would be too cold (though after SG 03 I have a different concept of what is too cold to larp in, and too hot, that was one fucked up weekend of weather.)

I'm just hoping the thing won't take place on the first weekends of either month (or any month for that matter) as I have Sinergy and a cyborg costume and suit of powered armour in the works for that, and unless it gets held at quarries or the midlands i would be unlikly to be able to disappear on the sunday like last time.

we'll have to see, there will always be other events next year (i hope) and I'm prepared to wait for a good thing.

on the "december is too cold" front, that sort of depends on the setting, if the entire thing is "on ship" then in theory we'll all be indoors all the time anyway (unless you want to step outside in a very brief and fatal way!) or wearing full space suits.

so it shoudln't matter. but hten there is the case that december tends to be rather short (only 3 weekends in it before christmas!)

The 'too cold' thing is more perception than reality, I found. From doing SG03 and many games on the north Norfolk coast in January, it depends on type and style of game. A far future setting, albeit retro in style, allows for all mod cons for keeping warm. A site with some indoor space that can be partitioned-off between different groups is a plus, but not essential. There are many different angles you can take for a cold weather event, but snow can be really atmospheric, and many scenarios can play out where there is indoor as well as outdoor activity.

One of the things that I've found can really make a difference to an indoor site later in the year is putting up dome tents (without tent pegs, obviously). Sleep in one of those, with a camp bed or matress to get you off the cold floor, and you can be warm as toast.

And now I have this vision of a warehouse, dotted with IC dome tents, market stalls, and a tavern.

Oddly that's exactly what Gerwyn suggested when he was feverishly talking about doing a Serenity Larp a year ago.

I don't mind winter evtns as long as it's not camping outside then i can just be miserable. Indoors is fine and there are always ways around the majority of issues.
