Sorry to bump this post by coming in so late...

I'm a player in the Contact! game, which is a MilSim LARP, based on Stargate, but also inspired by X-Files, Aliens, Resident Evil etc.

The game has been running 10 years and some LARPers don't take kindly to the mask requirements, but safety first as loosing an eye is non trivial matter. It also has to be said that some airsofters don't take to the role-play milsim side either, as they rather just get down and dirty to shooting the 5h1t out of each other.

However, the game has developed quite a following, is a LARP and uses airsoft. Here is as good a place to start as any:

People are free to contact me if they want to take the converstation off list.

last summer i was at Shards at Candleston scout camp in Bridgend in South Wales, i noticed large amounts of BB's across the site, so i asked questions.. ( i.e. lots & lots  and found that the new site warden apparently does allow airsoft skirmishing as there was a airsoft LRP event the previous week in august last year, so i will try to find out what event that was.

I am trying to find sci fi events myself but i was dissapointed with Nexus as the crew were treating it like Nazi Bootcamp rather than LRP, me and a few others got treated like s**t IC and when i confronted them about this unnacceptable behavoiur i got treated like s**t OOC and that is NOT what i paid my money for.

patience is my strongest ally........

And so is a Chainsaw !!!

Yep, if you are interested in Airsoft LRP, keep an eye on Gunman Airsoft. Details will be posted soon for a new airsoft LRP game set in WWII.

Won't say too much yet as there are a few final details to be ironed out, but it will be called IRON EAGLE and will be about the life and actions of a German infantry unit during WWII.

The event will run in mid June and will be in Cambridgeshire. Places will be limited.

I will post on here when the final details are ready.

For airsoft / LRP fusion check out Elite Tactical Simulations:

http://www.ets-headquarters.co.uk/forums/

We are a group of LRPers (you'll recognise some of us from Maelstrom, CP and a host of other systems), who go and role play (as free-form crew) at Stirling Airsoft events.

Typically we charge about £25 per event which includes a few beers, a 24 hr ration pack, BBs etc. We are also happy to lend you any kit that you need (providing we have it).

[last summer i was at Shards at Candleston scout camp in Bridgend in South Wales, i noticed large amounts of BB's across the site, so i asked questions.. ( i.e. lots & lots  and found that the new site warden apparently does allow airsoft skirmishing as there was a airsoft LRP event the previous week in august last year, so i will try to find out what event that was.

Thats encouraging.  Personaly i'm a big fan of using airsoft as a resoultuion method for gunplay in game (eventualy i'd love to do serenity with airsoft weapons, but thats a story for another time)

The more places where this is availible gives us event organisers a much wider field to look at when considering the concepts and settings of our games.

I've got to say, while i believe Nexus does have some problems I'm not quite sure what to make of the comment above.

Are you saying that it's unacceptable to treat you like s**t IC?  Certainly the majority of NPC you'll find at Nexus are going to be in one of two camps, Ruffs and Corp personal.  Neither of these two have reason to treat characters initialy with anything other than suspicion.

Having said that, I've not had a major problem with Nik and his crew, except maybe with certain of the abstracted game mechanics and issues of the IC economy in the game (or general lack of it) and have found them to be polite and friendly in most of my dealings.

Could you clarify your above statement please.  Alternatively, have you fed this back to the game team?
