Hello, I've been looking into the local LARP, Seaxe and Sorcery in Essex, and it's proving quite hard to get much information about it. All I really know is that it runs the Shadows and Sorcery system somewhere in Essex, though I'm doing my best to find out more about it. Has anyone here played this LARP/system? I'm a bit wary of it because they say you "find out the rules as you go along", which sounds somewhat like an invitation for the new players to get bullied over getting the rules wrong... anyone here know anything about it?

I've not played it myself but I know some of the folk involved, they're a good bunch.

well, that's reassuring. I might have a look in that case, although I believe there's an Unusual Pastimes in a neighboring county too...

| Hello there, I have been a member of Seaxe for the last year and a half. Suffice to say I wouldn't have stayed if I didn't enjoy it enormously. I can say with some confidence that there is very little chance that there is another system that offers the same value for money or is as family friendly. As a member prepaying £75 there is a bare minimum of 3 events per year, with 4 plus day events. All weekend events are fully catered for no extra charge, to an excellent quality. If you have kids of pretty much any age they are welcome to come and are taken on adventures by CPA certified refs. Plot is plentiful and given on a fairly personal basis, it is rare that any player does not have something to do. The rules are pretty simple, when someone says "learn the rules as you go" its not a bad thing. It just means that you can't beat someone to death with the rule book and won't have to spend twenty minutes figuring out if you are dead or not while fighting. If you want any further info google seaxe and the forums should be the firstr result. Post on the OOC board that you are interested in coming along. There should be plenty of replies. Or email me at troyhealy@hotmail.com Troy

Hi, a new Larper from Essex here, I found the Seaxe and Sorcery Website quite inaccessible to your average nub like myself. The lack of information about the system didn't encourage me to get involved, subsequently me and my mates got involved in another system even thou it is an hour and half further away. I just thought I would mention that as feedback if you like, tell me to shut up if you would prefer. I am interested in meeting up with Seaxe and Sorcery Larpers, just not hot on the idea of going to an event with no idea of what to expect.

| As far as I'm aware there is a general acknowledgement that our website isn't up to much. Good news is that we are working on one. It is kind of ironic that the site is so inaccessable when the system itself is exactly the opposite. Did you try posting when you looked at the site. Generally new players who post get more help than they actually need when they do so. Feel free to contact me on troyhealy@hotmail.com for info. Regards, Troy
