From what I've read in various places, yes, bounceback is less. This means they transfer less momentum to whatever they hit, so I would expect them to hurt less.

Also, from Mk 3 onwards (from the beginning of 2006, lot number ...06), the flat disc-shaped bit inside is made of something stiff but slightly flexible rather than from something hard that can snap in extreme conditions. They were polycarbonate but now they're something else.

Ian, Could you bring 6 arrows along to the next Maelstrom for me?

It looks like I will be arching again in the near future =)

Indeed I do... quite a lot, in fact, because they don't fit on the standard Arrowkaster crossbows, so they don't sell as quickly as the arrows do. Let me know if you want me to bring some to Maelstrom sometime.

So you're saying it wouldn't fit in this?

How badly does it not fit? Is it serviceable or utterly useless?

I'd be interested in seeing some at event three, regardless. How much are they? Budget will determine how many I buy but I'll let you know how many to bring.

Basically they're quite long -- maybe 4" longer than the Arrowkaster ones. This extra mass more than takes away any gains in range you might get by using the hemispherical head, unless you have a crossbow specifically designed for them. I believe European LRP games use bigger crossbows. ForgeCorvus may be making a big crossbow for them at some point though...

Generally for IDV arrows I charge £8 each, down to £7.50 if you buy 10 or more; IDV bolts are £7.50 each, £7 each if you buy 10 or more.

Do the MK3 bolts still have the rubber moulded fletching?

I don't know; the bolts I have do, but I don't know off-hand if they're Mk2s or Mk3s. I can probably check at some point...

The arrows do. I don't know about the bolts, but I'd expect so, especially since the maker seems to regard them as a selling point.
(See the maker's web site: there's a link in that thread I mentioned.)
