After several years out of the loop I am looking to get back into running my own events again, however I know very little about the area I live in and trying to find a decent site for one day events is becoming very difficult.

Does anyone know of anywhere in or around southampton? I would be most gratefull for the info. thanks.

I've found myself in the same situation.  I've only organized one event before (not on my own I hasten to add!) and now we're doing another one.

http://www.scoutbase.org.uk/cgi-bin/camping/db.cgi?db=camping&uid=default

I don't know if a scout campsite is suitable for your event, but in case it is, this link will take you to their directory, and you can search by area, facilities etc.

Good luck with your event!

Oblivion used to use Fort Widley, which I believe is in Portsmouth

Chris Tully knows the details. He's a member here so maybe PM him

Hi Gable,

As Trez said I'd be happy to help. Just PM me here with you any info you require and I'll help in anyway I can.

The area around the Southampton and Portsmouth is difficult. The 2 running Southampton groups I know of use public land as does the Portsmouth group. There aren't any scout sites around that can or will let you use them. The groups who use the public land though have been doing so for many years so that is a cheap way forward, but make sure you get in touch with owners of the land, Council or Forestry Comisson.

Hope that helps in someway,

Chris.

http://www.risingofchaos.com/ Who may be contacted via Steve at rising_of_chaos@yahoo.com

and whose forums are at:

http://www.digitalterrapin.co.uk/risingofchaos/forums/Blah/Blah.cgi

I don't know if it's any _actual_ good or not because I haven't _actually_ played.  Yet.  But Steve is very friendly and helpful, even if insanely busy.

Anyway, hope this helps.  Ooh, and there may be a Lazertag thing called Dropzone running, but I'm unsure if this is a LARP.

We at uklazertag do run events in southampton, (not Dropzone, we run that in hertfordshire), but I believe the original poster was looking for sites not systems.

We have used Fort Widley in the past and we also use the Combat south site in Wickham for one day events. And contrary to popular beleif what we do is indeed roleplaying
