I agree with Twisted Vision. Balor - re-do the poll, get another consensus again. There are changes to the player and crew base since last time after all.

I agree, players and crew were getting quite annoyed with the bottomless clips. It was like a John Woo movie out there... Do the poll and we can lay this puppy to rest for another year.

Dare i say it... SPPOOOOOONNN!!!.

I can't say the bottomless clips were annoying me... after all, who could possibly be annoyed with the wide, wide grin on Drake's face as she hosed the landscape (and occasional, incidental live targets) with bullets?

But I did have to do a lot of hustling to maintain any sort of contribution when things turned violent... And I went down like a sack of spuds whenever a gun was turned my way (which, let's face it, is about right).

Perhaps extending Dodge to allow close-range evasion of single shots from firearms would help, if not overused... I'm hesitant to say cut down too much on the ammo or effectiveness of guns since they are, basically pretty damn' cool... But there ought to be some way to make close-combat characters more effective in proportion - whether Dagdan or Cybel or Oonym or... well, whatever.

When I want your opinion, I'll read it in your entrails.

How about allowing those with the dodge skill (or a new skill) to dodge gunfire if they can get into cover once per combat e.g. behind a wall, tree, door, lie prone (however inadvised that is).

I would err on the side of it being a new skill otherwise dodge would become quite powerful.

Finally here!!!! Hello and good morning everyone.

Quick question to the refs, is Light to Heavy Armour an upgrade, costing 2 points or a new skill all together? Ta.

What's the point of living if you can't dissapoint your mother?

'Those passengers on the right hand side of the craft should get a good veiw of the mountains and those on the left should just be able to make out  the large shuttle full of terrified people pointing at you and screaming "get the f**k out of the way".'  Sergovian's last posting with Logistics went badly.

Have you considered using tally counters for ammo? http://www.atp-instrumentation.co.uk/prodtype.asp?PT_ID=118&strPageHistory=cat something like this either incorporated into weapons or kept on the belt etc and triggers every time you make a call. I can get these cheap and it may allow people to go a bit wild while still keeping track of large ammo counts accurately. It should be easy to build into any kind of physrep bigger than a pistol or extent the triggers on the electronic ones.

Its an interesting idea but looks like it may involve both expense and technical know how. I probably wouldn't make it a rule that you have to use them but I would certainly condone their use for those who were willing to do it. After all, they are a useful way to keep track.

The new Ammo rules have been posted now - both here and on Paradox realms (http://www.paradoxrealm.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=124). They are there for comment at the moment (so far all the comments I have got have been in person and mostly positive). There is still time to change them if anyone spots any major flaws in them. I intend to add them (plus lots of other changes as already discussed in other threads here) to a new edition of the rules over the summer holidays when I am no longer working.

Just realised I missed this when reading this thread before... sorry. Only caught it now as I was going through possible rule changes...

Any skill which has levels only costs the difference between the levels rather than the whole new skill. This applies to light - heavy armour but not to power armour which is a new skill.
