rather nice lateral application of a projector and photoshop, I'll let the website do the talking http://www.d20srd.org/extras/mapProjection.htm

Looks like it could be realy cool. I do agree that the website doesn't do it justice.

I have a plan somewhere involving a tablet PC and a copy of MotionBuilder to replace maps and figures, although I'm not a fan of either to begin with.  However, I could even, with the right IK mechanic make the 'figures' move across the surface and appear to fight.

This of course involves me finding time to do all of this, not to mention shelling out for the tablet.  The software I need to buy soon anyway.  Oh well, one day...

With the price of flat monitors coming down quickly, it seems they would be much cheaper than a projector and easier to deploy?

Actually, the 21" CRT I'm typing this post on would actually make a good small "active" table itself, just by standing it on end!!!

But I do think LRP is a hobby best enjoyed in a positive state of mind.
If you approach a game with a positive attitude then you're more likely to enjoy yourself there.
