I quite liked "The Rock" as well. I also found "Bad Boys" amusing. I didn't even have a major gripe with "Transformers".

Having said that, all of what Smitt has said is undoubtedly true. It's a terrible movie, although not quite as jarringly bad as Phantom Menace.

I thought some parts were fairly shockingly violent for a film for kids, i.e. the bit where Optimus Prime sticks his sword into the Decepticons brain. Hmmm. And you can see Optimus Prime's face, and what's all that about?

Plus of course, you had all these American Flyboys not hitting their own side. What's all that about?

Don't pay money to see it at the cinema, it'll be coming to a bargain DVD bin near you soon enough. Then get drunk and mock it with friends. Bonus points for realising what's wrong with the phrase "but F22's would never fly under the buildings!"

There is only overconfidence and terror.

Quite simply best film I have seen this year.

Sure Smitt is fairly much correct in all his details, but they still make an incredibly watchable film that stays true to the Transformers ideal. The storyline uses the core transformer stroy with a number of deviations, but no more so then every other telling of the story. If someone tells you that they changed it from the original story ask if that was the story from the toys, the story from the US comics, the UK comics, the cartoons or the original film (though the comics hacked that storyline into theirs).

Bay not only did an excellent job of creating a popcorn action film, he also modernised the transformers to seem like our childhood dreams, but actually be "grown up" versions of the camp figures from the cartoons (although keeping the glorious distinctive voice of Peter cullen ofr Prime).

Roll on 2009 and the second film!

If the Transformers learnt English from the internet, why did Optimus Prime never say "Megatron u suxxor I pwn j00 noob rofllolbbqpewpew!111!"?

Loved it,

maybe a bit too much human character building and not enough giant robot character building but in the end was a good laugh

roll on transformers 2

Quite simply best film I have seen this year.

..which is pretty damning in and of itself. I though it was pants...terrible dialog, cringe worthy "comedy" scenes. At least the fights were pretty...
