I'd throw in some music from the matrix: I think the one in question is called "Clubbed to death", then possibly throw in Unforgive on general principle. Skunk Anansi's "Good things don't always happen to you" and some angry-sounding bits by Puddle of Mudd.

EOS - Weeping Boar, War Sayer of the Mystwalker Tribe
Maelstrom - Tal Rufen, Quicksilver Trading
Riftworld - Cpl Caplin San Angelo, 48th Assault Recon

Being in my thirties, it has long since become apparent that subjective classifications of music are about as useful as a chocolate teapot at this stage of music history.

However, having a further go:
For those whose know me, the original sound for RW was not metal, but a num num remix of a Ruby track, Heidi (Salt peter), by STS. Ambient, slightly gothy and moodily atmospheric.
I can recommend both the original and the Revenge Remix.

But then I would.

I have an Industrial theme going through my head when I think of Riftworld music.

Nine Inch Nails, Ministry, Rammstein and Gravity Kills.

My Rammstein flamethrower jealousy knows no bounds....

Richie H-R 's suggestions include:
'...something futuristic, hateful and cyborgish' - Aborym, Dodheimsgard or Thorns.

I won this CD in a competition on Classic FM a while ago and it seemed like quite an interesting mix of music. I think someone mentioned the Matrix music and this is the same guy...

It has just occurred to me that I think some people have been subjected to a few "Bück Dich" moments...

Also back on the subject of Rammy, Engel is very appropriate....

*laughs* Quite possibly...

Along with "Rein raus" moments... or are they the same thing (actually - probably similar but less painful)?

And though Rammstein is ace, I'm willing to bet that Funker Vogt (if anyone's heard them) fit nicely into the Riftie mould* as well.

*No, I'm not sure which one I mean.
