Hay guys, anyone know where to get hold of natural feathers, i want to have a go at making quills so im looking for proper feathers not down, i would guess goose size up(goose, turky, phasant). Most places seem to sell dyed/fake ones, anyone got a good source?

Try here

Not a permanent source of supply, I suspect, but enough to have a go.

Some butchers will have loads of feathers if they're plucking the birds themselves. I've got a couple of bags full a while ago for free

I've got a few pheasant tail feathers from when we plucked a brace not so long ago in the garage. I dare say I could spare a couple. Plus there are loads of bloody noisy geese around here by the river if I see any stray feathers laying about I'll grab you some.

Ah now having had a look at the pheasant feathers, they are a tad thin, not the most robust for making quills, maybe it was a couple of small birds we had. I'd say you'd be better going for goose. If I see any laying around I'll give you a shout.

I think pheasant feathers are normally too thin for quills.
Goose is good. (So is swan, if you're lucky enough to find a big loose feather at a riverside.)

Try archery suppliers: they tend to sell goose and/or turkey feathers for fletchings.
