Top be perfectly truthful I suspect omnivorous diets based of a small holding are the least impacting way of continuing the food cycle (and being alive)

That's also probably the most efficient use of land -- sadly it's also probably pretty much unworkable given the world's population.

Theres some crazy stuff on the effects on the animal population of the world if we all became veggies..... say good bye to all the sheep and cows.... but thats not really going to happen.....

I'm pretty sure that they wouldn't all disappear, although numbers would be reduced dramatically.  But you're right, that hardly seems likely...

I am constantly pleased by the number of folk I meet at LRP who at least try and grow some of their own veg and so forth. The proportion of people making an effort is higher than in other social groups i mix with.

You play enough peasant heroes, something's going to rub off, right?  *grin*

Anyone remeber 'Soylent Green' or am I just really really old.

Yes I remember and yes you are really old.

The other option...... isn't there a diet where you can live on just water and light/mana?

I reckon a cull is needed.....

Though the modern sheep does die if not cared for by humans.... they wool doesnt stop growing and they get mental then cant move and then die..... which is quite a sick thing to do to an animal if you think about it....

Your statement seems counter-intuitive. Surely the most efficient use of land is the best system for a high population?

If it's all about efficiency, you can't beat coprophagy as the slimline solution that doesn't require cud-chewing/extra stomachs. The power is yours!

For Gods' sake Marios, what is your obsession with shit eating? Yes, very clever, agriculturalists live in their own shit bla bla bla. Nobody cares. And your points add nothing to the discussion in hand. If you really want to discuss shit eating or respond to this post, please start another thread on the subject.

Hmm, good point.  I should probably have said something more like it being the best way to make use of poor-quality land (as sheep will graze anywhere).  But there's not enough land of even poor quality to support the world's populaton at Western levels of food consumption.
