well quite sensibly for the short term, i'd hole up in my attic with my family and a lot of tinned food, axes, machetes and a crossbow, buckets, sleeping bags and a wind up radio, tough it out until the panic had died down, and then either a: secure my home, get more food, either by growing it, trapping it, in the form of pidgeons or scavenger hunts in town, or b: legging it to an island somwhere, either the isle of man or one of the coast of scotland

I'd get bit, then chow down on some nice, juicy brains.
Mmmmm... brains....

Hmm, an interesting one. If I had any kind of warning, I'd head to the farm in Dorset where I grew up. I know that place in and out, and my uncle - owning a shooting range - has a rather large collection of firearms as well as cattle, crops and a generally self-sufficient setup. Having an ex-military father and uncle wouldn't hurt when it comes to holding back the hordes - and another uncle in the police force is bound to be useful in the initial panic.
However, seeing as I'm on the other side of the country, that might not be practical. Being stuck surrounded by hordes of braindead shuffling monstrosities? Sounds like your average saturday night/monday morning at York university to me...
I'd head for the armour first of all. I knew that kit would come in useful one day. Haha!
Next stop would almost certainly be my housemate's room. He should have enough swords to go round - even if they are those flimsy breakable samurai sword replicas, with a solid pair of armoured gauntlets you could just grab the base of the blade and use that.
Can't forget that electronics toolkit. Never know when you're gonna need those needle-nosed pliers.
Now, where to go? Staying put would be suicide. With chav central next door, I wouldn't fancy my chances - I imagine chav zombies would be the worst! Town would be horrendous by now. Campus would possibly be worse. The army barracks just down the road would be the natural point of convergence. Unfortunately, to get to it, you'd have to go between town and campus...and a graveyard. Tough call. A bit of a rock and a hard place situation. I think the section of the city walls near my house might be an OK place - I mean, you're high up and visible, but there's only two ways in, and both have heavy iron gates on them. I don't think the undead can climb...I hope...

I don't think the undead can climb...I hope...Well, I'd have thought considering traditional zombie propagation methods, to whit, biting and or consuming the living, then graveyards would be much safer than houses. Zombies aren't known for their amazing coordination, but I'd think that they'd probably be able to batter the gates down. Certainly the established literature makes it seem clear that they're attracted to movement and noise.

Ahh, but consider: if it's more than a local outbreak, the zombies will keep coming until they build a ramp of the undead. Ting is though, one my attic is on top of my house and theres only one way in or out, two no windows, anmd we'd be dead quiet, and three, if it was a larger than local out break, we'd try and time our exodus just right so that the panic has subsided but there are not enough zombies. Not perfect but better than nothing

Narrative causality dictates that if the panic has apparently subsided there'll be 3,000 zombies waiting around the corner.
