| Hi, trying to find sources for buying/making kit and would welcome suggestions. There are a lot of places selling swords forinstance, but no-one seems to sell energy daggers! (I know. horrifying!) Firearms wise, the best suggestion I've had is to buy a super-soaker and spray it black. Anybody have good ideas, suggestions or places to buy? Ian/Jigs

| > Energy weapons Various people have tried various ways of doing them. Glow in the dark paint has been used, as has firewire in a groove down the blade with surgical tape to hole it in. >firearms Depends what sort of guns you are after www.bbguns.co.uk stock quite a good range for solid pistols, (including the 'unzimatics' which have been used as rocket guns) Despite the name they also sell capguns. Personaly I use these http://www.maplin.co.uk/Search.aspx?criteria=paintball&source=15&SD=Y for las pistols, because they are made for adult size hands and look chunky enough. The spring-paintball mehcanism also helps give them some realistic weight.

The oft quoted BBguns site has already been posted.
For something riflewise you can't do much better (online) than :
http://www.airshooter.co.uk/acatalog/Airsoft.html
Offline, check your local sunday markets (not the car boots) as they often have stalls selling the same stuff as Airshooters, but at a slightly lower price, and without the P&P involved.
It really depends what you're after - anything other than Autogun or maybe rocket gun can be bought, but energy weapons probably have to be made (and Plumbing supplies are often a good place to start)

Energy weapons can be modified from regular swords and knives by adding something fluorescent like a bit of fabric, a sprayed bit of sponge to represent a powerpack or wrapping a bendy glo-stick around the handle.
Some LRP weapons suppliers do spangly coloured blades. We have an electric blue knife. I've seen swords with 'crystals' sold on stalls at Maelstrom- that would do for a Nanolord just as well as a walking geode...
Good idea for a thread, Ian. Anyone got any other questions? I'll leave the gun props advice to the experts. I think I know the difference between a stub and a plasma gun now

Well, I *think* I know what I'm going to do for a power arm and it builds onto the armour I already have. But any extra advice would be appreciated... because the internet hasn't been even half as useful as I thought it might be.
Wires and tubing (and stuff) are fun.. because I want relatively big and clunky. Not like those subtle citiers.

my old cyber arm was sold to Dave and Sarah, along with the power claw to go with it, if you ask them nicely they may bring it along to have a look at. It was basicaly neoprene straps that velcroed round the arm at the wrist, below the elbow and at the top of the arm. These where then latexed flesh color and joined together with wire and metal rods that came out from under the latex to look like they where wired in under the skin.(rember copper eats latex) The claw was just two coreless blades but structured so that its cross section gave it rigidity in all directions. These then where attached to another neoprene strip that also went round the wrist. The hand was then just a heavily modified cricket glove.
I found that this was chunky enough to look imposing ( my opopion people on the other end of it may have been laughing but to polite to say), whilst not hindering movement to much, and left me use of the hand. ( very important if you want to wave heavy rifles around one handed, and pick up dying shengui).
Hope this helps

"Chrome! More Chrome! Chunkier, heavier...ok, walking lopsided now but I don't care, man, make it BIGGER!" ...is about the average Cyberate's wet and oily dream. They like to show off.
On you, Chase, that arm's something I have to see! You can do a lot to create lightweight bulk with plastazote (like Karrimat, available from Tiranti's - Google it.). Even sculpted and covered furniture foam would be fine. Have fun!

That is the downside with citiers, you just can't justify great big shiny cyber mods. That, and I can't find any prescription versions of the fancy targetter eye contact lenses that don't cost the earth. Don't think I fancy wearing two lenses one on top of the other. I need to become either richer or more hardcore.Going back to energy weapons, Eldrich do multi-coloured blades, some of which have pretty sci-fi-like handles. That's where I got my energy knife for Jenna and it works pretty well. As well as online, try sports or hunting shops, that's where we tend to find our BB guns. There's a great one in Glasgow town centre, though that's not a great deal of use to you. But we've found them all over the place. The only downside with this plan is that you see shiny things which you then get to try out and end up having to change your downtime as you've suddenly bought a new toy...
