It looks like were going with 'The Five Kingdoms' and the event will most likely be run on one of the May Bank holiday weekends in 2008.  Sorry if this clashes with other events, but to do the event justice, the extra day would help.

LAUK are finishing the rule book off and getting some concept art done for a website.  Price will be no more than £50 a ticket!!  Were going to cap the first event at 300 players!  When the first event is done and a success it will increase to a 500 player event.  A simple, but detailed description of the two warring factions will be provided and to start with there will be only Human races.  We can expand on this as more of Baraghost is discovered and new factions are introduced.

Magic - Little, but very good!!

The Feudanes will have Thunderous blessings from their gods and the Kar'Nyans Elemantic magics granted to them by the Earth Mother.

The armies will get bonuses from their Banners, Drums and Horns on the battlefield as well as simple advancement.  All our games are about making Hero's that can talk around their camp fires about when they fought at the Ford of Garash or the plains of Bara'Gondin and so on, but there will be death for the fallen in the form of a bead draw at the end of a battle when the victors are taking names.  Those that survive can limp back to their camps and mourn the dead, the victors get the resources and spoils from the location captured for the armies war chest. See the Conflict rules on www.gunmanairsoft.co.uk for an idea!

Each weekend will be for a location on the Baraghost map, when all the map locations are controlled by a side the War will come to an end!  could take years  (I hope so)

What do people think?

Josh

More likely it's my bias. I love big rucks, mass battles, great fights... And I love big politics, backstabbing, conniving hot PvP action.

Its alright Matt, we're tucked in the system forum area right between Great Larp Conspiracy and Everichon...

I've never heard of the Five Kingdoms as a setting, so I looked it up on Google and there were five hundred links telling me it's the Linnaean classification system in which everything is classified into five kingdoms, Monera, Protista, Funghi, Plantae and Animalia. For one beautiful moment I had visions of the mushroom people at total war with the fir trees while an alliance of deadly single celled eukaryotic formed a chain of colonies. How cool.

And yet I'm guessing that's not what this game is about is it? Anyone care to enlighten me what the hell "The Five Kingdoms" is?

History is an important source for LRP. Along with other works of fiction.

I'm hoping it's not that.

LOL, man I had no idea thats where Five Kingdoms would lead you and war mushrooms sounds so bad i might just give the whole hobby up.  As stated in a previous posting in this thread its a world thats been developed over the past 15 years from Kastrouffe, the old ADVENT LRP system that ran 10 years ago and has been revised and matured into 'The Five Kingdoms' by LAUK.  few...has that sorted that one out?

No.   What's an Advent Lrp system?  What's a LAUK?

LAUK is Josh's company. In the same type of way that PD run Maelstrom.

Advent Lrp is a rules system. I believe it was one of the first systems without a battleboard. Though I'm probably talking out my arse again.
