Certainly plot does tend to interfere with PvP (since 'plot' is generally directed by some NPC in opposition to the majority of the players - Conclave\Vipers\Cadre plot seems to be a classic example) but I'm not sure what you mean by 'closeness'?

On a pedantic point the Vipers are a faction of a couple of hundred player characters rather than plot, although they are often in opposition to all the other players!

You see what happens when I try for concision?

I meant, the general feeling from the Heartland Games was that the Vipers - while desiring to continue supporting one of the Cadres even when (or perhaps because) it induced PvP conflict felt compelled to drop their support when the Conclave (don't know much about except that people scrunch their faces up in a contemptuous fashion when discussing it) announced support for it.

I'm tempted to suggest Labyrinthe has had the strongest PvP for me, even although is is ostensibly a PvM Linear based system.

The interactions between the Characters were often very intense - plus the ever present concern that perhaps one of the party may be more 'dangerous' to you than any set of monsters....

But I do think LRP is a hobby best enjoyed in a positive state of mind.
If you approach a game with a positive attitude then you're more likely to enjoy yourself there.

Legion of Dreams seems to be a nice blend of pvm and pvp. Nor did I find any of the storylines to intefere in the PVP, in fact it seemed to be encouraged. My impression at the last event was here is the storyline, do what you want with it.

I disagree that all there is to do at Maelstrom is plot to murder each other.  I've not IC murdered anyone and I've not even been in more than one fight in two years of play.  Mind you, I also don't consider it PBEM either because downtime is usually the last thing on my mind when I'm playing.  I have a lot of fun with my character and I enjoy that politicing and stuff doesn't necessarily have to lead to violence.

That wasn't quite what I meant - it was just said flippantly as an easy example of PvP plot - don't read anything more into it than that.

Crazy like Croolis-Ulv!

Quite alright, no offence taken.  :-)  However, I've revised my quote with an emphasis.  There's a rather interesting pair of threads at

http://forums.rule7.co.uk/Topic4409-4-1.aspx
and
http://forums.rule7.co.uk/Topic4196-4-1.aspx

which talk about violence and PVP and PVM. I find that PVP has lots of player violence.  Mind you, so does the PVM stuff.  Is the true distinction between PVP and PVM just a question of whether you're actively plotting someone's downfall or passively reacting to someone plotting yours?

There is only overconfidence and terror.
