We're looking at sorting our next Dark Times event. Its been two years since the last one, so we're about due

Site wise, theres a number of options scattered round the country, but we're looking to go where the interest is. We've already got half a dozen or so in the South East, but thought we'd see if there interest from "Oop t'North" that would justify us looking for a more Midlands based location

Dark Times is a low-fantasy medieval horror. So far we've had mutated twins born of satanic ritual, cannibalism, hauntings, murders, "undead" knights, curses and double crosses.

I'm definitely interested.

I suspect Sam might be too -- he's sworn off LRP so is unlikely to see this, but he was saying just the other weekend how the last DT was the best LRP event he'd ever been to, if I'm not mistaken...

Blimey. Praise indeed

That last one was actually the worst out of the 3 that we've run so far in my opinion.

The game worked "differently" with more people there, so one thing we are considering is having a smaller player base and perhaps restricting it to 10 or so players.

We found that things aren't quite so scary when there are 14 of you as there are when theres only 6.

We also wrote the last one with an external enemy, so there wasnt the level of paranoia that we had with the first two as well.

Yeah, while we all roleplayed the "we're shit scared" stuff pretty well I thought (you don't usually get 14 players legging it from a lone undead monster!), it was tough for you to get a great deal of scariness going on when the players outnumbered the crew 2 to 1.

But the food... the food is still the best I've ever had at an LRP event. I know you'll have a different cook next time, but as long as they're dedicated and extremely skilled, I'll be there.

Ooh?  The South East?  That's where I live!  Huzzah!  Got a website?  Or can you pm me with an email address so that I can get the b/g and rules off you?

There is only overconfidence and terror.

Yeah. Thats why we didn't really have any linears on the last one. There were 4 of us and 14 of you (half of you tooled up to the nines), so we'd have been pummelled before we'd scratched you

The food...well...we're a victim of our own success on that one. Everyone just remembers the food.

Unfortunatley Sandy and I aren't together any more, so its highly unlikely that we'd have the same chef, but we're making enquiries to find a worthy replacement.

The web-site's at www.darktimes.co.uk (but it doesn't seem to be working at the moment. Will check it out later when I can access it properly)

Its not entirely up to date, and we'd probably be changing the rules a bit for this one. There was an idea at one point to run it completely free form (i.e no rules). Undecided as yet

I'd be up for "somewhere north of London" too. If you can make it between Birmingham and London it should be equally inconvenient for all of us.
