Went to pen it onto my calendar, and it clashes with Riftworld.

Riftworld: Rossar Kuug ("Clearly mad, because he thinks he's a Com-Trow Skirmisher" - Aela)
Hyborian Tales: Crew, cook, dogsbody, general labourer, toilet cleaner ("Dangerously overoptimistic ref" -- Tom Nowell)
Otherwise usually crew ("Quite spry & fit, & willing to wear a big costume & run around a lot" -- various event organisers)

Please change the date. I can think of at least 8 players and crew that do both Riftworld and Vikings...

| Sadly the weekend before, Rich is on Holiday. Since we only have two refs these days, we can't afford to miss one. The following weekend we will clash with Mandala larp, which I was asked nicely not to do by many of the players who were unable to make the last event. Weekend after that Song of Steel is running, stealing most of our crew, the other one of our two refs, and our site Alas, this is the only weekend I can get us in. I know that it will affect some of our players and crew, but it is the lesser evil.

It's like you've thought about this and everything... I dunno. It won't do you know...
I'm pleased to hear that you've checked availability with the refs. I have happy visions of Rich sputtering and spitting coffee all over his monitor when he discovered he was running another Viking event...
(I was once handed a flyer for an event and thought "hey cool, I might go to this", then turned it over to find myself listed as one of the organizers...).
History is an important source for LRP. Along with other works of fiction.

| I hate clashing with Riftworld mostly because I love playing Riftworld. Unfortunately it is the best date for Vikings as it is the one that loses us the fewest players and refs. I don't want to run Vikings in the beginning of the new year, because the player and crew drop-off was so enormous the last time we did that. Neither do I want to miss a year, as enthusiasm diminishes the longer you leave it. As much as I love Riftworld, there are only two weekends in November or December upon which we could run Vikings and have all three refs and most of the players. The other one was Christmas...

I vote for Christmas! We could have Yule logs, and Grandfather Odhinn coming round with the pressies, and that weird Vitkrist lot trying to work out if they could take over this Yule festival business somehow. It'd be ace!
Or if you stick with the Riftworld clash... I'll either play Riftworld (if I can afford it), or crew Vikings (if I'm too broke). Dunno yet.

I have the same clash as Ian, but Vikings does have the closeness to me aspect, and better accomodation.
The mud question is irrelevant, as Middlewood has more but Horley is ginger and stains kit.
I think like Ian, it will come down to how much money I have - do I play rifty or vikings???
