| You gotta love games that (IC) go on for decades with Empires rising and falling and wars and bloodlines and everying else. ButI did find Game of Thrones slightly dull. So is there one out there I should check out? Or shall I have a go at writing one?

The GoT made me roll my eyes back in my head and make noises of displeasure when my friends insisted on playing it. Then I read the books. Now I want to play it. I believe I've also seen supplements come out for it...

| Its awesome. AGOT the boardgame is a very well balanced multiplayer game that if played with the right people who've read the literature can also encourage a little roleplaying too. The expansion makes it even better. There are a couple of cheap fool's mate moves, but they are hard to spot. Stu and I constructed a campaign game version with orders and turns for up to thirty people at last year's Gaelcon. I used to play Mighty Empires linked up to Warhammer Dark Omen on multiplayer with two computers. I've seen Shogun linked up to Shogun Total War, and I think you could work a system out to link Mighty Empires to Rome Total War or Game of Thrones.

There's a pretty old Games Workshop game called 'Blood Royale' where you each played a royal family of medieval europe. If I recall correctly it usually ended up pretty political, with you marrying off your high stat daughters to other players to ensure alliances or trade deals, and wondering desperately what to do with the inevitable 'Princess Potato', a daughter with absolutely nothing going for her at all (Crap sons are always useful as cannon fodder in wars), hoping for her to die during a plague year or something, but she always survives...
It's long out of production though, so the only places to find it are car boot sales or ebay.

| I'll have to get Kariknos finished. That was a Empire building game, based on a similiar idea to Mighty Empires. Then again, I seem to have enough to do atm...
