| More thanks here, to the players and fellow crew. I had a fantastic time (up to and including prancing around a scout site dressed as Toya Wilcox). Long may it continue! Paula (crew and Alfar)

Had a cracking time, it's the first weekend I've had off since Christmas, and it was well spent. Having utterly failed to get a witch burnt last year, I was very chuffed to succeed in my mission to get my stroppy daughter married off this year. Roll on Event 3.

Yes I was a little confused on the witch subject.
According to the limited documentation and literature from the era refering to mystical arts and beliefs like the hearth magic, holy folk, priests and priestesses were pretty much thought of as professionals whose services were valued by their communities. It wasn't until christianity was well and truely introduced that witches became persecuted and then the "witch" catagory included healers, herbalists and midwives.
I didn't see anything in the game background saying otherwise so was caught out when I realied that using hearth magic was meant to be considered a bad thing compared to rune magics as the Vikings were pretty much equal oppertunities on the subject.

The menfolk consider it to be eerie and uncanny. The womenfolk see it as part of everyday life.
Not that we built any conflicts into the game...
Dont listen to me, I don't larp any more.

That is what I suspected it should be after all it is "womens business" and what man wants to get to involved in that? a certain amount of distrust, dislike and discomfort is to be expected but I was just a little confused by the "witches are evil" "burn the witch," concept.
Attitudes like that tend to be character specific, and are included for good reasons. Obviously we're not going to tell you those reasons...

Ah I wasn't sure if it was meant to be an over all world view and I had missed something.
Fortunately playing someone from a holy community meant I could just put it down to some local superstition rather than worrying OOC if I had comepltly screwed up.
I had huge fun and am really looking forward to the next one.
