I may be requesting the names of your printing firm, and I wish to add a flyer to your maelshot at some point this year if that is possible

We have an excellent relationship with a very reasonable printer. And he's based in Bolton. He's a top guy, our second most important business contact. I'd be happy to put you in touch or you could just run the printing through our account if you want, however you want to work it.

Try to keep in mind what you are trying to accomplish. Getting something professionally printed is only worthwhile if the quality of the image is up to scratch. As Richard, our printer said to us today "I can't polish a turd Matthew..." If you go for something simple and functional then don't bother with the expense of a professional print job, we'll laser it in house and cut it on our guillotine (don't use a shitty hand held thing from Office World, just don't) and you can pick them up. If you have something colour, or high quality, then it's worth while doing it right and getting our guy to print it for you.

Get whoever is going to do the flier to natter to us and we can talk about software, layout and so forth. A helluva lot of fliers that I'm asked to distribute contain elementary mistakes. Like printing two up with the gap between the two images the same as the margin border... (think about what happens to the gap when you cut the paper in half). If whoever does the graphics talks to me then I might be able to offer some useful advice (presuming you can't find a pro to help).

Happy to do a flier in the maelshot, never a problem.

Just a note , we are always happy to put event flyers in any orders we post out, so if you get some done send us a handful.

Cheers

Wonderful news- I was gutted when I discovered that you may not run again, and had already offered to help- if you need any props/monsters give me a shout, I'd be happy to swap stuff for playing (on a sort of you help supply materials I build a Troll costume= me playing for free basis), and I can help out with background/history etc (it's a particularly favourite period for me) as that wouldn't affect my ability to play.
So the next question is: can Arnulf take one of those warships we "found" and crew it for you Lord King? (we'll go raiding to raise cash for your just but doomed campaign against history and Harald Finehair.)
I can think of a fair few people who'd come along for that- and some of 'em might still be young enough to swing an axe!!

1) Firstly the poor monster was me - lack of sleep and a general consensus that I should monster the part meant I blanked - Lucky really - did you want to hear about Fenris's bollocks three times in one event :-)

I felt horribly guilty when I saw the look on your face after I demanded you tell us a tale... Sorry about that!

Don't feel guilty. I should have said "Now Sam, usually I'd be happy to talk nonsense at these fine fellows.  Really, it's what I larp for.  But currently I have a brain full of cotton wool and can't string sentences together due to some bug or another that I seem to have caught.  I know, I seem to be able to string this sentence together, but the effort to communicate for this long is likely to kill me soon after I finish speaking. So I recommend that we wait until we get a monster to play the part and I'll go sit by the computer and print out lammies until my head stops hurting."

That's what I should have said.  Lesson learned me thinks.

yup, a Big up to Matt for his flyer distribution :-) he even told me off when I sent the first one, as it printed badly in black and white ;-)

I'm all for playing, personally, and this is my thought chaps, I would have said that event one, loved it, was great, second event severe lack of numbers removed a lot of the elements i enjoyed, although monstering was fun, and was glad to help. did however think that £45 was a bit steep, (this is the reason I didn't play, I don't have £45! it's all tied up in bloody kit!)

£45 for a small LRP weekend is kinda cheap these days, no? Or at the very least, it's "the going rate." I doubt you'll find any sub-50-player events that charge much less than that, assuming that they have to pay for a site. Unless of course the organizers are losing money, like so many do.

It would have looked *great* if you'd printed it, but it looked terrible laser printed... You gotta consider your medium!

I would have said that event one, loved it, was great, second event severe lack of numbers removed a lot of the elements i enjoyed,

That was pretty much my feeling about the event. I'm hoping that they can bounce back for the next one...
