Marines, I grant you, are more troubling. However, I would argue that a Black Templar Marine, seperated from his chapter for long enough while serving his Inquisitor, would begin to develop a personality beyond the brainwashed machines that most of them are. Actually, that in itself would be interesting to play. Not that they'd become automatically corrupt, just that by being surrounded by normal people they'd remember what it was like to be 'human' but also be reminded how different they are and how weak normal people seemed.

Spooky. I was in a tt version of 40K based on BESM rules (:crying, which had amongst its NPCs a very well characterised Inquisitor and a Black Templar-in-retinue chap, who was, as you suggest, shifting perspective the longer he was away from his chapter. The roleplaying was superb. We were all retinue too, and in our way as powerful, not so much in raw stats as in freedom to act and to question. And I don't see how anyone could read the Eisenhorn series and not think Inquistors have room to develop as people.

Marines don't have to wear their armour all the time, and if in an Inquisitor's retinue there'll likely be a lot of times you'd want a Marine willing to be just an excessively tall and broad human for a while. Admittedly there are other dead giveaways - rank studs etc, not to mention the line of sockets along the spine, bonded carapace and smooth, gapless ribcage...

Ah I still like to use the old Westend D6 system to run games of 40K tabletop, such a nice system and it converts really well.

Small Demo game is up. Its not much but you can get some impression of the game. Its basically WFRP with lasguns, and why not

I think we'll have to wait for the full game to come out to see the differences such as Corruption points and Career Paths and stuff.

If you read the Black industries website, they're closing later this year, so there's not going to be much in the way of supplements.

its a shame as both warhammer fantasy and 40k are well produced.  However i dont think they will totally die off without support as warhammer fantasy continued with support for many years.

I must remember to get a talisman set while they are still available

Gaah!!
Just bought Dark Heresey, and the game is set around being the low-level scrotes an Inquisitor has recruited to be his acolytes. You do the Inquisitions dirty work, clocking up xp like sweeties while losing limbs and fate points, and once you've clocked up enough xp to complete your entire career path (ie be the equivalent of rank 4 wizard or assassin in WFRP), you've hit the limit of what this game considers playable, are hard enough to become an Inquisitor/Assassin/Rogue Trade yourself, and they say "at this point you pass beyond this warhammer 40,000 roleplaying game."

All this suggests they were going to do more things at different power levels, but this game is for the "grunts with a little bit of experience" to "Just about to become an inquisitor" level.

I must do two things:1, stock up on Warhammer, Talisman, etc. before it all goes out of print; 2, write some stuff to go on the web somewhere so WFRP and WH40K table-top survive another 20 years until either another publishing company takes it up or we've all switched to virtual reality warhammer.

No, you probably don't remember my character from the events I've been to.

Yes, the original plan was to have three games of increasing power level.

1) Dark Heresy: Playing members of an Inquisitorial retinue.
2) Rogue Trader: Playing Rogue traders exploring the edge of imperial space
3) Deathwatch: Playing Space Marines (I'd have been interested in seeing how they did this, as awesome as space Marines are, I'm uncertain as how to make them into interesting characters to actually play as PC's, given they spend their entire lives Praying, Training or Fighting, with about 15 minutes of free time every day)

Alas it has been canned before they even get a full range for the first.

Maelstrom: Khaniel, Liberated Angel of Enlightenment

Word on the grape vine is, Black Library have taken up the torch, or will in the near future

I just got my copy and was distort to find the level limiting, and the end of a wonderfully produced and long awaited cannon RPG, but it looks like the future will continue with the 3 projected books still coming out later this year apparently...
