Ok…first up, IT’S A ROLE PLAY GAME!!!  So, there will be every hero side covered, not loathsome nazi murder. It is a game about WAR however!

Topic of ethics… my favourite subject.  My grandfather watch his whole family hung from a tree by Nazi’s, he was Polish  (no longer with usL) No one of his age or that lived through the 2WW will be at the event! So please don’t worry about upsetting them.  If its you that might get upset, we won’t see you thereL sorry, but maybe at one of our other events!

I have the up most respect for my piers and have only agreed to run such a ROLE PLAY event because I trust those that are booking on and crewing to also have such a respect.  Its not like this is being sold over the counter to anyone.

As for the horrific things the Nazi did during this period! If that were a factor we would never play any role play games again! as every story in history has its Horror. 

You don’t here anyone shouting about the British Empire when people want to run Victoriana events or complaining about the Roman and Vikings games that are still very popular.  All these great stories had some kind of true genocide behind them.

Re-enactors…thanks for the history tips and be assured we will stay away from the filth but not the grit of the 2WW as it is a GAME! Please book on and let us entertain you, which is what we have been doing since 1983.

Ok, why start with Germans.  Because it’s the hardest to do and we love a challenge.  The Axis and Allie games will be woven together and there might be characters on both sides that get to know each other during the experience.  How cool would a Christmas battle in 2008 be, both sides get to meet for one day and share stories.

Cheers for the reply. Sounds like you're aiming for the right balance there. I've ranted my opinions at great length, but I'm going to shut my gob now as I guess I shouldn't pre-judge an event before it happens. If you're going to do some allied based stuff I'll be in the queue to book. Let us know how the Iron Eagle event goes, and I assume they'll be pictures on the website.

So? How does that lessen the fact that you're dressing up as Nazi's? Is this like when someone says something horribly vicious and nasty and then claims they are joking? In both cases, it's still distasteful.

I'm even more disturbed that you seem to think that because it's a roleplaying game, that somehow lessens the impact of SS LRP.

Please, show me these alleged many Roman and Viking LRPs. I can think of one Viking game,  and not only does it enjoy the distance of history, it's a political game.

To my knowledge, no one is running 'British Empire opresses India' LRP. I'd be rather sceptical about that as well, though I can see how it can be run well, in the same way I can see WW2 lrp being rewarding.

I find it interesting that all those involved are your peers, as this event was also advertised at a fest LRP with over 800 players. That's a lot of peers to trust they won't behave like idiots.

As for not knoing whats going on the the lrp world such as viking, roman and victoriana games as a few, there is loads of great stuff that goes on outside of the forums, just becuase there not on the forums doesn't mean they not being run. 

As stated before, its axis vs allies, in Call of Duty 3 you can play Americans or GERMANS, the Nazi flag is flying everywhere in the game and doesn't stop 3 million people playing it, enjoying it or taking offence.

When I say piers I'm refering to the grand parents that lived through the War, not every tom, dick or harry in a field.

As for advertising the game, maybe we should do a questionaire with the booking form asking key questions about players sexual and personal preferences to make sure we don't get any wierdos booking on.  Thanks for the idea Ed, we will give that some thought

Its almost imposible to do IIWW without Nazi's as the whole country (be it be force) was Nazi.  Its a filthy word and I hate the very idea but in the words of some bloke, somewhere 'Its my art man and running events is what I do'
