I actually posted in to request information - no-one replied.  Can't give service if you don't respond!!  I also applied for a job with you a while back and again - no answer.  PErhaps that is something to think about?  Not saying you don't respond, but is there an issue with going through emails?

DarkMerchant, I've used the site a fair bit on and off over the past few years (and ordered once or maybe twice), and I think you're concentrating your efforts in the wrong area.

When I'm looking to buy things I don't care about pretty artwork and fluff like that.

I want it to be easier to find things.
I want good informative descriptions and clear pictures of the goods.
I want to be able to see the total cost including shipping without creating an account or filling in any details; you could make the default view of the shopping-basket show standard UK shipping.
I want to be able to order without creating an account, too. I give you money, you give me goods; end of story. Having yet another password is pure annoyance, and I'd rather you didn't store my personal details.

Getting away from just the web site, there's also the fact that several of my friends' orders have been delivered late or wrong, with missing and/or extra items... a friend got a bow with no string, and ended up resorting to buying a bowstring from elsewhere.

The aspects you're talking about on this thread, the artwork and "theme" and "style"... they're not objectionable at present, and as far as I'm concerned that suffices. Improving those will give you zero return on investment from me.

Err.... airing your annoyance of us on a public forum rather than emailing us directly to complain pretty much drives me nuts !!! me and this is one reason we have stayed away from this forum... some people obviously get some sort of satisfaction  from having a public rant.. rather than facing us with their issues...

For your information Mr Makai we have sent you 2 email in response to you comments with regards our website and also with regards your application.. check your facts or your Spam filter or not as the case may be, we have viewed your kit and it is is not for us... (see not nice is it !)

We are human, and without question are now the largest and busiest LRP company in the UK which means we get more than 1 order a day and as far as I am aware even if we have cocked up, we have always made good (so I would challenge that the some of the comments are a complete lie), whether by refund, or replacement or even free goods... Trust me, we value our customers far higher than many and I would DARE anyone (and this is not the first time we have had this debate on this forum) to check the level of service.

I response to the site comments, fair play and all taken on board and this is a row I keep having with my developer with regards having to create an account (and one we will fix) Just so we are clear we have a data protection act licence and do NOT under any circumstances do anything with your details when you create an account, it is simply the way the system is set up, we rarely even send our customers newsletters. With regards the shipping this is a slight issue in that we offer several options, all of which are listed before you commit to an order.

With regards look, what can we say, but we supply far more customers that LARPers so we like to give the site a style rather than a theme.

I guess these last posts say it all.... no fans of lrpstore here so I guess there is proably no need to make any more announcements here.

I'm sorry that drives you nuts.

I think it would have been a strange thing to put in an email though; and more to the point, I wouldn't have thought to do it.

True, you asked about something completely different, and my tone was a bit cold, but I was telling you the things which, for me, are the important aspects of your site, or indeed any shop site: things would make your site better (better in my view) and might lead me to buy more from you. Helpful, yes?

Doing it in public means it's more likely that anyone who feels differently will join in now and say, "No, it's too [ugly/boring/bad] to look at; there might be good things to buy there but I don't know because I can't bear to have it on my screen for more than a minute." Perhaps someone will point out that if there are lots of lovely things to look at, they might explore the site looking for more fine pictures and happen to be tempted by some juicy bits of kit they see along the way. Perhaps we'll find I'm a tiny minority.

I realise you're big and busy. Congratulations.
I realise that any busy business will make mistakes sometimes. So, perhaps it was unkind of me to include that second-last paragraph. Still, those mistakes/problems did happen. They have had some effect on my likelihood of choosing you when buying something.

Finally, you seem to be responding to some things I didn't say.

In case you'd got the wrong idea, please note that "zero return on investment" means only that such changes won't gain any EXTRA orders from me.

I didn't say that lrpstore is good or bad, or that it's better or worse than any particular other business, or that I won't order from it. I said nothing about what value you place on your customers.

I just pointed out the negatives and improvable points that seem most important to me.

There are good things about lrpstore, but it's obvious you know those already.

Bah... I've spent too long writing this.

I appreciate you taking the time to put us straight, and you can trust me when I say your comments regarding the site have been taken on board and if I am able to get our developer to understand the importance of doing things the way customers like to do them we will have at last got something right.

Unlike many, we do actually take the time to look at lots fo forums and keep track of what is being said about us, as this is the only way we can learn when we are doing something wrong or where we can do things better. We are a shop after all and as much as we need to earn a living, the main point is that we are there for the players (sound cheesy, but I Do care when we let people down)

I think this has highlighted a simply fact and that is that maybe people dont complain enough if they are let down.

I am a trader, which to my mind makes me accountable to all my customers and if we get it worng for what ever reason the buck stops with us... and yes we do get it wrong occasionally, but how do we give the customers what they want if they dont tell us.

I apologise if I took the post persoanlly, but then I know how many hours I put in to the business NOT to let people down.

I think maybe we should put a feedback form on the site for customers to tell us how they found the whole experience, and make it public, like we do our product reviews.... good or bad, I'd rather have any feedback than none

We just thought it a shame.. and no insult is intended to the entries we got, they were good, just not the look we were hoping for.

The idea was to give somebody an opportunity to have some fun use a bit of imagination and get some recognition for thier work... we can employ a design team any day, but that wasnt the point.

It's possible that part of the reason was the thin brief - if I were designing a site, I'd be looking for more than "Essentially we are looking for a design that will reflect imagination, style & a recurring theme that we can use through out the site, while reflecting more than the usual LRP themes.. I guess we want something very special that will reflect what a broad base of customers we have."

'reflect imagination' - doesn't help.
'style' - doesn't help
'recurring theme' - that's what a site design is....
'something very special' - well, obviously...

So you're left with....,

"reflecting more than the usual LRP themes"
"reflect what a broad base of customers we have."

I really don't think that gives a designer enough to start from.

Hi TheThomas,

Darkmerchant has had the "webelves" working hard on your suggestions (and you're not the first), I'm pleased to say that we've recently added both the ability to see the postage based on the items in your basket (both UK and worldwide) plus you can now shop with us without us having to create an account.

Take a look - we do listen to all comments both good and bad, construtive and not so, after all we are still out at the weekends hitting orcs and killing zombies so LRP isnt just a business opportunity it's our hobby!

Thanks

DarkMinion
