black leather so I have no idea how  they are classed as trainers? could someone explain.

Leather basketball boots are still basketball boots (or were they baseball boots, I've forgotten). Not shoes.

baseball boots are IIRC basically converse design e.g. canvas on rubber sole.

I know they are B-ball boots just wondered what made the shoe a shoe but leather ball boot a trainer not a simple statement of fact I would like the catogory differences if that makkes sense

Hard Black Leather that you can put a shine on = shoes.  Soft leather that looks like a trainer, no matter what the colour = trainer.  That's from my school uniform days, as we used to try to get away with trainers that were black.  If there is any canvas in them at all, it's a trainer.  Far as our teachers were concerned   More look and design than material really though.

Jees, you had to remind me of school.......  I thought i'd forgotten it, been so long ago......

I have read this thread with interest but have decided till now not to get involved, most of my working life has been working with disabled people and it is interesting and informative to see how other people view discrimination etc, however what i find worrying is the last few pages are taken up by one chaps attemp to get in a club, this is a topic that deserves better than that, with a wide ranging discussion and personnal experiences, this post isn't moaning at any one person but i think we could all learn and contribute more concentrating on the origanol point, i know all points and questions asked have been well thought out but lets break this chain and say is there discrimination, even if its through ignorance and if so how do we as LRPers see it and over come it, one thing i have noticed over the last few years the amount of disabled peolple entering the hobby, esp Maelstrom and credit there goes to Matt/Christine/Bill and the team, how can we make our hobby more accessible to all is a question i would love to see discussed.

I was just waiting for someone to post a link to a wikipedia page about the difference between shoes and trainers.

I don't know how to make either LRP clubs or Night clubs more inclusive. Sometimes life just isn't fair.

ok thank you everyone sorry if I derailed this threadd with one comment and thanks for the disscusion and to the poster asking to continue from the original disccusion I agree I tried appealing for that on the last page lol. Seriously though thanks.

I feel that larpers in general have been very accepting and inclusive on rule7 I posted an advice request about dissabilit and larp and the only grief I got was over the original costume my mate who is getting me into larp wanted me to run.

Yes, thats because a dead topic was ressurected by someone who apparently cant tell the difference between trainers and shoes expecting completely unreasonable exceptions to be made for him on no more than his say so.

Possibly how to improve disability access in LRP specifically would be best suited to the 'General LRP' boards and a new thread.

ah hi flannel resorting to your usual modus operandi of insults and/or attempts at wit that fall tragicaly short of the mark as in your canabis thread post. So comment usefully or keep your mouth shut. It is a valid question as the footwear conforms to many of the attributes of a shoe.

and an add on to my challenge in earlier posts I need the footwear to be flexible enough to get my ankle which has limited flexbility and movement into and still provide support
