Has anyone used this site? Can you give a lowdown on how good/big etc, it is?

| As in Frylands wood Scout camp ? Yes we have used it. Size wise it was ok, annoying thing is the presence of other people at times. Buildings were ok ( I did notice when driving past a couple of months ago the building we used is no longer there though ). I am sure Martin and Tart will elaborate on these as my brain is a bit dead today to be honest. R.

| It's a decent site but the warden is a complete nightmare. I ran a game there when he was away, and just dealt with the foreign scouts running the place, but when I tried to run a second event, he took my booking, then when I turned up to pay, he cancelled it saying I needed to be CRB checked as it's a scout site. The guy really is one of the worse people I've ever had to deal with. That said, the site is good and cheap, and if you can get it for a whole weekend without Scouts etc, then you're laughing. The huts are also good for if you want room for crew kit and crew beds, and you could camp quite far from them to keep the SOS up.

Thanks for the prompter. Think we'll head down to take a look. If he's that much of a nightmare though, it may not be worth the aggravation. Is the medieval fort as good as the two images on the website seem to show?

| We used Frylands to run an LT Viper faction event back in October 2003. Back then exclusive use cost us £2500 for the weekend (although another group was using one of the huts for first aid training - but they did keep out of our way.) We booked via a bloke called Mark (can't remember his surname), who wasn't the warden, but was his deputy or something (he was also the person who built / maintained the fort) Generally a nice site, only problem with the fort was the location - right next to a load of buildings and the climbing tower, with the main site behind it. More photos of the fort can be found here: http://www.viperfaction.org.uk/gallery-old/fort/index.php Hope this helps - any other queries just shout. ETA: I'd have no problem in running another event there, but unfortunately its just too expensive :-(
