Has anyone been there recently ?
I'd heard they had rebuilt a building and wondered what it was like now.
Other than windy!

If you approach a game with a positive attitude then you're more likely to enjoy yourself there.

| Not aware of a building being rebuilt. I remember it having three buildings - a large hut which is mostly one room save for a kitchen and which has a veranda/sundeck, a smaller hut with 15 bunks in it and a kitchen and a small room and a toilet block. I also don't remember it being windy - it is actually quite sheltered as the entire site is surrounded by woodland. If there is another building there then this is even better for our event next weekend!

| I can confirm there is no new building. However, Snowy (site manager) and gang have cleared the pump house area down the bottom valley now and are in the process of 'doing it up' so there is future potential for a small shed like structure for encounters. The small hut has recently been re-painted by one of our lot (anything to colour co-ordinate for Sirens Call, eh Rob!) and he has done some external repairs so it is looking a bit better than before. However, Snowy has mentioned the Scouts mean to demolish the small hut in the next 3 years or so to re-build a new one with more bunk rooms. As for being windy....the main field can be but once you are in the wood or the valleys there is no problem. However, it was minus 3 when we were there the other weekend so the wind didn't really make a lot of differnce!! Hope that helps

We (LT Dragons) had a heavy-duty party tent die on us there earlier this year - if the wind gets up and is blowing down the field towards the hut with the veranda it can get pretty bad.

| Yup I believe Oblivion had a large tent knackered there as well by the wind. Although its surrounded by trees on most sides, they are concetrated on 2, it forms a natural tunnel and the wind whistles down at a fair old rate.

Come to think of it, I remember it being windy. And cold. Mind you it was February last time I was there; it was cold enough for the mud to freeze solid.

I go there about several times a year and have been doing so for the past 15 or so now. There has been a couple of windy events there but it averages no more than anywhere else. It just depends on the time of year and your luck with the British weather.
Hey hopefully the windiness will put other users of which means we can get it more often

The wind is less of a problem than the mud. It sticks. To everything. And is a horrible red brown colour. After our event in November it took us months to clear everything of the stuff... Also took us (me and Redhillian mainly) hours to clean the floors of the mingy stuff.Snowy said they are going to do something about it when they get the money - make the areas mostly walked on (mainly near the huts) easier to walk on by covering with asphalt and using other methods. Not sure what the ETA on these is, however.

Also include in this cleaning Sarah, who heroicly cleaned the crew hut, despite not being crew.
