Just out of curiosity and a desire to constantly improve the game, what did people think of the general feel/pace/plot and of the organisation/admin/etc. ?

Sarah here.

I didnt find this event as scary as previous events. Nothing to do with the fact I could take many of the combat encounters, I mean more the general atmosphere, the one on one personal horror (although there was angst). Of course, what this probably means is that someone other than me was getting a go, which is good.

Rumour has it you plan to have 30 players next time round, but I think the horror atmosphere might be further diluted if that happens.

No point me griping about the rules, you know my views.

All in all, Riftworld remains a very good game. I think the balance of new and old characters worked well, there was a reasonable balance of new and old plot stuff, and the combat could challenge existing characters as well as new ones (it was a new character and an old character that finished off the 'darker angels take the barn' encounter).

The organisation / admin was strange. The player packs were given out promptly, but had mistakes in them, for example unlabelled stub ammo (had to be stub ammo cos it was the right number and the only missing item), and David's recharging 10 XP which I remember him discussing with you before... Time in got delayed even though we'd been told the crew were ready and waiting for us. Dont stress it though, I've never been to a single event where the admin was perfect and the player packs fully correct. Even my Waypoint skills go missing, and I read my brief over Dave's shoulder before its printed.

We try. Doesn't help doing the packs at 2am before the event...
The unlabelled tally slips would have been either Psi or Medic. All the ammo slips have codes on them. As for David's 10XP, it's a mystery. I've not been the one keeping an eye on Rp spends, though I plan to be a bit more aware of that from now on. It's hard to add up an established characters gear points because you've inevitably gathered stuff in game along the way. We'll try and look into it.

I hope everyone declared anything they lost and gained IC. It's hard keeping track of other people's equipment! I will be noting these things down properly soon. Please send me an email if necessary by the end of the week.

People are free to send in Ongoing Actions, there's no deadline just yet because we'd like to have an idea when the next event will be, but this year would be good, whilst it's all still fresh. Please refresh your memory on the guidlines for Ongoing Actions as set out in the rulebook BEFORE emailing ANYTHING. Thankyou.

I had two unlabelled, one was medic, one was the stub... Like I said, dont stress it, its an awkward and hassly bit of the logistics of an event, and everything else worked.

For me, the event felt not as scary.  Part of this might have been that more players = less insurmountable odds, but I felt that the element of deeply personal horror was absent.  I understand that with many new players about it takes a little bit of time to get inside their heads and mess around, but I felt a little guilty that older players were having their heads messed around with while newer players were basically just sitting around.

The Monster crew were as dramatic and talented as ever, and I vastly enjoyed being cut off from the main party and capped in the head.  The proliferation of medics has meant that such things are less immediately fatal, but kudos to all the sundry gribbly things for providing the right sort of scary and dangerous.

I hated the site.  It made me unable to breathe, and wouldn't let me wash the blue off properly, but I whined about that enough at the time

'Unlabelled stub ammo' was actually the Automed, which I thought I'd scibbled on, but -see Minion-.

I suspect not warning people they had slips in amongst their codesheets was also a problem judging by the droppage into the grass that went on.

I am unsurprised the event may not have felt as intense a some, since it was meant to be an easy slip back into things for crew and players after such a long absence. I began asking myself if I really wanted to carry on with Riftworld, but the event made me remember how lucky I have been with both crew and players and to come closer each time to the massive story of Aliensphere.

I dub thee all 'Up For It" and thank you again for being so.

Now go back to criticising me.

It was me that had what I assumed to be unlabelled stub ammo. The automed was in David's pack where it belonged. I can have one if you think I have one though, I dont mind having a free automed.

It was OK in the end as I already had an unused slip on my physrep from last event. Lyria doesnt use a stub anymore. She has far snackier guns.
