We used compressed air. Works fine. No power supply needed.

I use Flair hairspray, it's safe (provided you don't spray it in your eyes) and washes off easliy.

I am advised by a make-up professional - DO NOT USE FLAIR ANYWHERE NEAR YOUR EYES.
All to do with platelettes scrubbing the surface of your cornea and eventually causing blindness.

(Happy to be proved wrong, as proving me right would require unfortunate evidence.)

But I do think LRP is a hobby best enjoyed in a positive state of mind.
If you approach a game with a positive attitude then you're more likely to enjoy yourself there.

I've got to say that I tried airbrushing for the first time this weekend (a war-form for my maelstrom character).  It's quicker and more evenly covering than other makeup, but it tickles like crazy.

Seriously.  If you are at all ticklish, airbrushing is not for you.  No matter how many times the artist told me to hold still, I just couldn't help squealing and half leaping off the tarp.

Not to mention the fact it gets up your nose, in your ears and you will be washing it out for a couple of days, regardless of how thorough you are.
