My sister has a (female) cat called Loki. I quite like the name.

(it's certainly better than her boyfriend's idea, "the tick")

The Morrigan.

You can't just call a call 'Morrigan', you have to call it 'The Morrigan' they like the drama.

Freya is nice. What does the cat do, its personality?

I have a black moggie called "Scout", cos she was scouting her way around for her brother's and sister's! BTW mine was a boy until I wanted it spayed...... fathers and "I know how to tell male from female rubbish" even the vet did not know until snip time.

I sacrificed sanity to the Volcano God, and he cursed me with a sarcastic god queue pass.
What will you sacrifice?

Alternatively, you get some great Kennings; ie one kenning for a sword is 'blood worm'. They sound really cool and are a final proof that all culture has decayed in a process beginning a long time ago and continuing presently.

Well, Onamastikon certainly sounds cool...

As for Norse names:

Ran (a personal favourite of mine) - sea-goddess, name derived of the word for robbing

Skadi - goddess of hunting an walking around on snowshoes

Snotra - goddess of female cunning

I have always liked classical names for cats names, and have used some good ones over the years being a cat owner, names like Cassandra, Morganna, and the best one I think was Asmodeus (which suited his devilish nature perfectly!)

You could always try Cooking fat, well it sounds like what I call my cat Chucky from time to time....

I did like Freya a lot, but a mate cat has that name would feel like Im copying him.

Personality wise, she goes from very quiet and affectionate, to running around jumping on things and going mental. She also seems to enjoy my laptop and likes to sit on the keyboard watching the screen.

Lastly she really likes my shoulder for some reason and has fallen asleep on there more than once.

How about bable fish for changing the obvious

hombro or schouder (shoulder in Spanish and German)

or even

tapa or regazo (roughly 'lap' and 'top' in spanish)

Seriously this is how my cat got her 'official'* name she slept on the stairs almost constatnly for the first few months of owning her so we translated it to German to get Treppe (which apparently should be pronounced somthing like Trrrepa but we use the usual English 'I can do Languages me' pronunciation (roughly trep-A) which winds up our German friend no end.)

Finally make sure its a name your not going to be embarassed (and/or will get you arrested) to wander the streets yelling when she doesn't come in one night.

Scarlett,

*this is opposed to the name that you'll call her as the fish for dinner mysteriously disappears off the table or you want her to explain the presense of the huge damp patch on the bed (yes she has) or even when you fell asleep on the sofa and wake up early in the moring and bleary eyed and freezing and then as you swing you bare feet off the sofa and trudge to bed you tred on a cold body, most of a cold body that she has left for you... Okay not that frequent but its worth thinking up some in advance, you don't want to tax your brain at 3 am.
