This is new film by Alfredo Curazon, it's set 20 year after women have stopped having children and the world started it's slide towards chaos. Theo, a civil service man is asked by his ex wife, a wanted terrorist, to get some papers to help smuggle someone out of the UK avoiding the Ministry of Homeland Security and that's when things begin to go wrong...

It's a marvellously shot vision of near apocalypse Britain, a much more believable one that you see in V for Vendetta, and a great story to boot. There's just so much to see in this film, the screen is filled with more details than you can take in and there are a few shots that are simply beautiful, if this film doesn't get at least one Oscar they wus robbed.

Lots of great character turns from the actors as well, Clive Owen is great as Theo and Micheal Caine as the pot growing retired political cartoonist Jasper is absolutely brilliant as is Julianne Moore as the terrorist cell leader Julian. Big props as well to Pam Ferris's hippy and Peter Mullan as the crazy security policeman Syd.

Oh whatever you do don't go watch the trailer as it's good, but spoils vast sections of the movie, this a movie that it's best to see cold.

Anyone else seen it, if you have stick some spoiler space under here and we can froth .

I really want to see this film! I'm so glad you liked it.. I loved the PD James novel when I was younger, and I downloaded the trailer and got all hyped about it ages ago -but it doesn't open over here till 22nd November.
And all the films currently on offer in the city are shit. Jackass: Number two? I ask you...
I am pouting about this.

I enjoyed this one as well. Great, believable characters, good performances, no spoiling of the story by trying to explain things with clumsy pseudo-science. It was very well done.

Excellent, if bleak film.

I'd have made one slight change at the end to keep up the bleakness, but thats just how I like films.

I'm not sure whether I want to go see it... it looks like a good film, but I'm not a fan of Clive "You'd Get a More Animated Performance from a Slab of Granite" Owen.

Give him a chance he's not that bad in this one and his 'style' suits the character.

I loved this film, for all the reasons above. Understated, relevant to today and completely believable. People should see it.

I'd second Mark's comment - give him a chance in this. His performance actually acts as a nice counterpoint to the chaos around him. Think of him as being simply fed up with it all as opposed to wooden and you'll get by.

Personally I was very impressed with the attention to detail. Very good set design and continuity staff. So many little things that you don't really notice, but their very presence at the corner of your eye make the whole scene more believable. I mean, no spoilers, but was I the only one who kept being tempted to read the articles in the papers that were blocking the windows?!

No big political statements being shoved in your face, no clumsy peudo-science explainations - it simply presents you with the setting and then gets on with the story. Nice.

Definately worth a watch.
