Was there ever an explanation as to why the Sheriff of Nottingham outranks the Earl of Rochester?

In the time Robin Hood is set a Sheriff was the highest representative of royal authority in the shire he was in charge of.

The worst costume crime has to be 'Djaq' with her blatantly modern army style dress jacket with the sleeves cut off

Djaq? I thought it was Vasquez from Aliens...

I'll get me coat.

I hadn't been watching it and then saw it was on when i was actually at my families place. Guy shoots an arrow and bad guy falls dead. Shooter jumps up and down stating 'I shot the Sheriff'. Sheriff steps out and stabs him saying 'no, you shot the deputy.' That is as much of it as I wanted to see.
PS. King John usurped the throne 1194-1195 whilst King Richard the total murdering bastard... err Lionheart was being held for ransom.

And for whoever said they had stonmg Geek instincts and couldn't prevent themselves fro, stating the 'The characters called the Doctor, the show is Dr. Who., well sorry but my onw strong geeek instincts have forced me to correct you.. It's always been 'Doctor Who.'

Sorry.... couldn't resist

Always been 'Doctor Who'? Your geek-fu is weak! The character was listed on the end credits as 'Doctor Who' until the end of Tom Baker's run (Logopolis, season 18). After this point he has always been listed as 'The Doctor'. The character has never specifically been referred to as 'Doctor Who' in any story, always as 'The Doctor' or some pseudonym.

You sure of that?

It is true that in such a very long established tradition, you can find an exception to almost any statement. If I say 'The name of the character is The Doctor', you can say 'In Part 2 of War Machines' he was called 'Doctor Who', as he was in the the dutero-canonical Docotr Who In And Exciting Adventure With the Daleks; the apocrphyphal TV Comic and the downright heretical Doctor Who and the Daleks movie. That's as may be, but WOTAN was a baddie and therefore can be expected to get things wrong.

The other things in that quote simply don't count. La, la, la, not listening!

hey, I dunno, I'm not a huge fan. I was just oddly reading that the other day and your post reminded me of it.
