I thought it was crap. The sheriff's men's costumes were embarrassing. Robin looked like he'd trawled charity shops. Most LRP events I go to look better and have more credible plot.

As for 'His Majesty the King', I swore at the telly for that one!

In response to the person who said its fantasy, yes it is, but it purports to be set in a particular period, so it ought to have decent historicity.

And they have already commissioned a further two series'!!

Personally, I think the American version of a few years ago was better (apart from the set dressers - I was impressed that they had sheet-lined the baths!)

The set dressing was OK, shame they didnt put the same effort into costume.

SO, did anyone actually *like* the thing?

I enjoyed it! Ok, Guisbernes men looked awful. Not talking the knitted chain, don;t care about that, but they looked awful. but it was fun to watch and moved at a fast pace. Most importantly it wasn't the same story rehashed the same way!

Looking forward to next week!

I have to admit I quite enjoyed it, but then I assumed beforehand it would have no historical accuracy and simply treated it as a bit of light entertainment loosely based on the Robin Hood legends.

Only real downsides for me where the horribly annoying little location titles that swooshed onto the screen with a (very fake) arrow sound every time they changed location and Guisborn's patently ridicoulous costume (the leather shirt just stood out like a sore thumb).

Tart (10/6/2006)

And even if they did, there is fuck all evidence about a Robin Hood from that period. It's a myth, like King Arthur. And like that, people fuck about with the setting/costume.

Well, there's a Robin Hood from Nottingham now! I studied forestry with him...and his Dad was called Robin Hood too!

I liked it, I liked the peasant kids having bad boy Notts scummer accents. And the fact that he had an Eastern recurve bow he had nicked off a Saracen corpse or whatever, instead of a shitty, shitty English Longbow - that was a nice touch!

I thought it took too long to get to the conclusion. After all, Wrexham is not all that far from Birmingham, surely a train that does 125 miles an hour can get there in less than 1 hour 30 minutes? And the toilets were blocked with tampons and there was no buffet car. Oh and some pointless chav kids on the platform were making too much noise. Other than that, it did what it was intended to do - get me home from wales.

Yes, I completely missed Robin Hood due to being on a train from Wrexham at the time it was on. So I have nothing constructive to add to this discussion other than 'Your Majesty?' Eh? Idiots...

It was pretty much what I expected for the saturday night slot Dr Who had occupied, they were aiming at the same family audience I suppose.

It was ok, could have been alot better. I did laugh when he threw his sword, and I noticed the main baddies had black plastic coats, i think they were supposed to be leather but didn't look it.

I quite liked Marian. I did notice most of the attractive wenches seemed to sport lip gloss and eye liner, but hey it brightened the screen up. It looked like Gisborne had eye make up too.

Keith Allen hammed it up panto style.

Maybe it'll get better, it was ok for something to watch.

Robin of Sherwood is still my favourite so far.
