Well King John certainly existed. I have no idea if notthingham had a sheriff at the time though, or somewhat similar to fit that bill.

And even if they did, there is fuck all evidence about a Robin Hood from that period. It's a myth, like King Arthur. And like that, people fuck about with the setting/costume.

Sure thats the reasoning why, but it's a pity the same levels of costume and setting that are applied to other costume dramas aren't applied to 'historical myth' settings. The preview ads for this new series do look like the whole thing was done on the cheap.

Alot of it is probably down to the funding (or lack of it) the BBC recieve. I'm guessing someone pitched a primetime saturday Dr. Who replacement that they could make using all costumes and shot in the local woods.

TBH I'm not too bothered about the costumes if it's not trying to pretend to be a historic recreation.

It apparently cost £8 million and was shot in Hungary as its cheaper and they have more forest. It is however supposed to be the Dr Who replacement for that slot this autumn, at least people on TV and radio keep billing it as such.

They've been interviewing some of the cast on radio 1 this week. Supposedly its supposed to be Robin Hood with a modern slant, and there are some slo-mo matrix-eque style bits of special effects.

I'll await to see it before slating it, i suspect it will be ok but over hyped.

There was an interview with the guy who plays Robin in the Metro paper. Apparently they trained for fighting, archery, horse riding etc for a whole week before shooting began. A bloody week. I would of thought you'd need longer than that!

*Unlike Vinnie I think I will slate the programme before it is aired, then if it is good I can be pleasantly surprised, if it is not any good then I have the pleasure of shouting I told you so. Either way I win!

Seeing as condensed course of basic level of stage fighting took me two weeks to complete, I'd say that your assumption is correct!

Tried to watch-I really did, Then I saw that Robin was wearing a waistcoat made out of one of Bilbo Baggins' sofa's and I couldn't really be arsed after that, and why does the avatar of e
