More info on the new series here http://www.bbc.co.uk/drama/robinhood/about/index.shtml if anyone' interested. Sadly I'm gonna miss the first episode as I'm away this weekend.

However, after reading the charactor Biog's:

Will Scarlet - Will is the gang's chief engineer. He can construct anything from any material, so long as it's wood.

Little John - A man of few words and much muscle, is Little John hiding a big heart?

Alan A Dale - Witty, cheeky, Allan can talk the hind legs off a donkey. He is a pathological liar, and a brilliant front-man for scams.

Much - Daft

and then watching the trailer from the site and seeing the new Robin hamming it up to the camera and delivering a chessy line of "I have a plan", I'm begining to be concerned that we haven't got a retelling of the Robin Hood stories so much as a new version of the A-team set in sherwood.

I think it's not going to be very good.

The sheriff's men are wearing bad wool maile.

From the trailers, the Robin Hood looks a bit unconvincing... both as a credible leader and as a credible outlaw.

I have fears that it will be bad. And not bad in a good way...

I'm going to be controversial and actually watch it before comdemning it...

Still, so long as it still has the crack smoking "hern the hunter" in it I'll be happy.

The  Sheriffs men had wool mail in Robin of Sherwood as well, but you didn't really notice. One of the Norman helmets had a bent nasal as well and you can see it move around the extra's from episode to episode-  it turns up in Prince of Thieves as well, so I'm hoping it'll be in this onel. Maybe it's a lucky helmet or something?

I’ll reserve my judgement until I’ve seen the actual pilot episode, but the costumes do look shoddy. Why oh why in Robin Hood do TV programme making peeps think they can do what they want cosi wise? It seems strange to me. When they knock out a Jane Austen, Hornblower, Sharpe etc they don’t think hey lets chuck in some wing collar shirts, a machine gun or the like.
