We saw renaissance last night. This is possible the best take on the 'future noir' thriller. Perhaps it's not really cyberpunk, but it's near enough. It's not particularly original - there are shades of Fatherland and Akira in there - but it is beautiful. Gorgeous animation and excellent 'english' dialogue. I don't know how it compares to the original French dialogue, but with its black and white 'sin city' colour scheme I think subtitles would have been quite obtrusive.
This movie deserves the big screen experience.
