| Hey there folks, don't know if this is the right place to post this sort of Topic, apologies to Alan if it's not. Anyway, I am keen to do some LARPing on the 10/11 June, if you have something to reccomend then it would be great if you could post something about it here. (well from my perspective anyway) I probably have a few people I can bring with me too.
Lovely

| Maelstrom 9 - 11 of june, you'll have to pay on the gate though. As for what to say, i'll tey and make it as frothless as possible. It's a PVP system with around 8 - 9 hundred players per event, it's low hit so no battle boards it also has an IC working economy with metal coinage (theres a first time for everything) crafters have a job combat monkeys as well no one in the game is useless. It has a very high standard of kit as well as i high standard or RP and players, and the PD team are fantastic (if a little stressed). I belive there's a couple of heroquest games going on that weekend as well but be warnd they are very expensive. It's a high hit system linear, there are different experiance lvl games so certain games are run for characters of a certain lvl. Has a high standard of kit and alot of fun players.

| If you (or anyone else for that matter) does decide to go to PD as first time players and pay on the gate then I strongly (I can't emphasis enough how strongly!) recommend that you first get yourself an account and create your character online at www.profounddecisions.co.uk It'll save both yourself and the GOD staff a bit of time as well as provide your first look at the rules... Edit: Aha, it appears you can't currently cos it's closed for downtime processing. Hmm I suspect you'll be able to again once the downtime results go live sometime (a week?) before the event...
PD Head Ref- but as all posts here count as being unofficial, you'll need to email rules@PD for the real deal. And in those oh so rare moments of going IC: Detric of the Bespoke Atelier (and your host for the erotic performance show) whilst my gnoll is on an extended leave of absence in deference to my ex-wife...

[b]<snipped>...with metal coinage (theres a first time for everything) Hate to burst the bubble, but Dumnonni Chronicles had metal coinage eight or nine years ago. And multiple "currency" types depending on the race you were dealing with. But back then it was done as a roleplay point, not a basis for economics.

And serves nearly 800 people an event? My old uni did a larp that had metal coins, but they weren't nearly as good looking or anywhere like as satisfying to hold.
There is only overconfidence and terror.

Are we back to the old.
"Maelstrom is not the first game of it's kind, it's just taken old ideas and gotten more people involved" discussion?
Games existed before Maelstrom (or omega) folks, games that worked just as well if not better and although it's fun for a fest there is more to live role play than that particular system.
Have enjoy your events but try and avoid putting others down.

Woah, what the heck just happened there? I'm not bashing any system. I'm certainly not having a go at PD, I'm just pointing out the fact that PD wasn't the first to use metal coins - which is what seemed to be being claimed. As for economics, in fact I said exactly the opposite, that Dumnonni DIDN'T run an economy. Chill out people, sheesh.
