I am about to start experimenting with spraying latex onto weapons. I don't make enough weapons to warrant setting up a dipping rig, and I'm willing to take a long time on each one, as they are just for personal use.

I did ask about this on pagga a while ago, and was told I would need to thin the latex with an ammonia based liquid (which I presume would then evaporate off), the example given was windex window cleaner. Now I can't find this anywhere around me (Is it solely an american product?), so I was hoping that you fine people may be able to suggest alternatives.

Any ideas for an easily available (preferably non mail order) liquid that will suit my needs?

Best to use a bit of wallpaper paste, mix it with your latex and spray with an industrial sprayer.

Don't mix the wallpaper paste with water though!

To clean you rspray gun use neat washing up liquid, spray a bit of that then flush out with water.

Wallpaper paste has starch in it which allows the second spray of latex stick to the first layer. You only need to spray an item twice to get a 10 coat brush thickness.

Then spray on your colour, then isoflex.

Then redecorate your mum's dining room - coz spraying makes a lot of mess!!

What have people used to successfully spray latex with. I don't make lots of weapons but would love to avoid painting 10 layers of latex by hand if I could?

In addition, how well does the wallpaper paste trick work?
