Is there a plan to have feedback at the bottom of each article on LarpGuide?

I think that would make people a lot more inclined to write responses, as the link to this forum isn't readily apparent. It would also make people more inclined to write articles, as writers (especially non-professional writers) love instant feedback.

As a minimum there could be a link at the bottom of each article to the relevant feedback thread here. Better than that would be to show who's responded and the first line of their post or something (maybe from an RSS feed). And ideally, you'd have the whole thread embedded in the LarpGuide site with the ability to reply there, LiveJournal style.

Linking the larpguide site to rule 7 so the discussion actually appears on larpguide would be far to much hassle to achieve i think.

I have put a link at the bottom of each article to the rule7 forum. Its not topic specific, but will drop visitors straight into the larpguide board on here.

Well, you announce the links on rule 7 so why not have the link be:

for this one say?

BUT, that would involve setting up in advance a forum on here for each article, some of which may never get any comments at all. All you would therefore achieve would be lots of work for Glynn et al and also potentially using up more than the fair share of Rule7's server space for very little useful content - i.e. a set of effectively blank threads. Which do take up space even if they have no content.

Either allow the current situation to persist or do as first suggested and add the comments box live journal stylee on the bottom of each article.

BTW Glynn, any movement on getting the articles I sent you up and on the site?

True, but on the other hand Glynn seems to be setting up these threads ANYWAY so why not be smarter about it and link direct?  If there's going to be an advertisement every time something goes up then it doesn't seem like very much extra work to make sure the link is right.  O/w why bother in the first place?

Wow! I never realised there were all these threads in the larpguide forum.

I guess relying on the 'last post... In... By ...' link isn't such a good idea.

@Balor - Ive been lacking time recently what with the hosting problem (Larpguide is one of 34 sites I run/host oiutside of work that needed "fixing") and a few other (more personal) things going on, but im working on it! (your article needs splitting up into a series - its too big!)

@coffmeister - Each article is database stored, and the link to rule 7 on the articles isn't. yes i think it would be good to make the links direct, but this will have to happen when i get the time to add in a new fields, alter my admin and alter the site front to include the link.

@ravensbourne - All ive been doing is posting on the board a new topic for each article, just in case anyone actually wants to talk about one, yes for a short while the "new article" post will be in there, but the minute anyone makes a comment it will be updated. I'm really not up for the idea of a whole forum for each article, i don't think the amount of comments or discussions for each article warrant it. Other thang spamming other topics and boards, theres not really a better way i can think of alerting folks, other than to set up a newsletter on larpguide, and I hate spam emails personally.

Well, when you find the time e-mail me and let me know where you want the cuts made and I'll make them. The article was originally intended for a magazine rather than online anyway. Sorry to hear you have been so busy, hope things get easier soon.

Sorry if my original post came across as demanding. I was just intending it as an "in an ideal world" kind of suggestion.

Sounds like you're onto it. Putting a new field into your database to link each article to a thread here is a great idea.
