We’ve just bought a Lovefilm.com account and we’re adding films left, right and centre to our rental list but after the top 50 films from my “l missed them but really wish I’d of seen them” category – I’m getting stuck as to what to watch.
So I turn to you – good people…..
I’ve already added The New World (thanks to Electrokin) but I need suggestions… tell me what I should add to my list – with a couple of words about the choice as to why – and I will be eternally grateful.
In fact you can have this one on credit – “Thanks Guys!”
--- PD: Mister Cry, Philosopher of Stone. LT: Whimsy, Archer's Guild Fae Butler. SOS: Kethren Fable, The Queen's Killer. Vikings: Plot writing Mikey (with eagle eye action)

The duellists - Napoleonic officers duelling everytime they meet with a variety of weapons. Great choreography, and some amazing kit. I mean, costumes.
Office Space (if you can get it on region 2) - the guy who did beavis and buttheads take on office life. Try not to watch it if you really hate your job, i tend to quit mine everytime I watch this...

| The Village. Watched this the first time the other night and unlike other shamayalayn (however it's spelt) stuff, everything I thought I saw coming, wasn't what happened. It's quietly done, doesn't overdo the heart jumping shock/horror moments, strangely plausible and very well acted by the lead female.

By the sword. Great film with Eric Roberts and F Murray Abraham. About a fencing sol and a murderer...
Not sure if you can get this on dvd, but "Run through the jungle" a good film about Vietnam Vets experiences in trying to get the US government to erect a monument to the fallen.
We were soldiers has to be on of the closest adaptations of a book about the vietnam war I have ever seen (Barring the obvious - Schindlers list) and was not overhyped like so many films I have seen.
Flight of dragons is an animated film about a Science teacher dragged through to a world of fantasy. Its one of my favorate films cause I remember seeing it on cable when we first got it best part of 20 years ago. In fact - if anyone has a copy I'll glady renumerate for it...

| I recommend a "Batman the Movie" and "Return to the Batcave" double bill Not I do not mean any Batman movie made since 1990 Return to the Batcave is possibly the funniest thing I have ever watched

| Creep, its about a woman who gets stranded in a london underground subway and stalked by a twisted mutant thing. Its quite cool and the SFX are done by my old mate Mike Stringer (Previous of Second Skin, who used to do some top stuff for LRP in years gone by!) Fallen, good one with Denzil Washington tracking a demon that possesses people by touch. Deathwatch, about a load of 1st world war soldiers that hold up in a trench, only to find that its possessed with evil and makes them turn on each other....
There is no way you can disprove to me that all reality we percieve, was concieved in the mind of a plastic troll. Now hand me my pills.

The Warriors: 70's gangland new jersey version of the odyssey. A must see.
Suk san: Sun Suk san geen hap, the version I saw had the translated title Zu Warriors: A rather bizarre chinese martial arts rave set in the 5th century. A scout trying to escape the war gets caught up in a battle between the immortal powers. One for a late night bit of diversion.
Once upon a Time in the West: Not as well followed as the $ trilogy but well worth catching if you are a fan of the spag western genre.
Grosse Pointe Blank: Rocking soundtrack, excellent pre matrix fights and gun fights, and the tragi/comedy all thrown in. Not for people who can't stomach John Cussack but I sad 80's teen that I was can't get enough of the boy.

| "Pi" An obsessive compulsive mathematician searches for a pattern in the statistical "noise" of the stockmarket while being chased around New York by violent stockbrokers and mystical Jews. Filmed in black and white with heavy surreal elements and an awesome soundtrack by Clint Mansel (Pop Will Eat Itself) you can either watch it as an allegory for the search for faith in an uncaring world or as the greatest, longest music video ever made. "Glory" A film about the American Civil War that's actually watchable! Matthew Brodderick leads the first all-black regiment in the army in the face of prejudice from his fellow officers and family and distrust from his men. Proper heroics in the final charge, and the kind of lines you only wish your characters could come out with. "Brazil" Terry Gilliam's surreal masterpiece about a dystopian, bureaucratic future. Features Robert DeNiro as the most random piece of casting ever. "My Neighbour Totoro" / "Spirited | | | |
