As Aitch has said, Tudders is top, cheap and you can do almost anything there.  Dig, build or leave it as it is.  14 usable Biuldings and loads of ways into the site.  I would say THE most under used site around.  It should be packed out every weekend with something and as an old scool larper, its always got dates saved for larp events.

Nuclear Bunker is as the others have said, amazing but has issues, any fort rocks for atmosphere, the MAll is amazing but NOT cheap!!

I also hire MOD sites which would be perfect for PostAPOC and steam punk games, again not cheap.

hope this helps

Hey there, thanks for the advice Gunman, and Tuddenham does look like it would be a good place to run a post-apocalyptic game. Do you have any sort of vague areas of costs for the different sort of sites, in your experience?

here's a (very) rough guide to site costs (per weekend):

small scout site : £200-400

medium scout site : £500-1000

specialist site : £2000+

there are exceptions, and you can often wangle deals.

Scout sites are notorious for doublebooking (ie allowing scouts on when you have booked exclusive use of the site) - there are exceptions eg Johns Lee Wood have really impressed me with how helpful and professional they are.

Specialist sites are expensive but won't give you the same hassle.

There's a few "other" sites (like Kelvedon Hatch) where you can hire them but there are limitations around availability - prices vary wildly on these.
