Fain's Minion (2/8/2010)
never sure how far the players could see...

Not far enough would see to be the answer as far as my dead thing with an auto-gun was concerned.

I snook in along the lines of shadow from the trees around the hut entrance a few times and wasn't spotted once as far as I know, though Spanners did pick me up on IR while looking in the opposite direction. I couldn't tell which way she was looking so shouted 'Ping!'

Well i certainly enjoyed crewing my first event and very much enjoyed seeing friends both old and new, of course being an annoying sniper for half an hour was worth a few yucks too

Shall be back for the next one but quite possibly as a player, shall have to see...

Favourite moments, both amusing and painful

Running around shooting people in the back during a zomb attack
Having defenders throw tree's at me with their minds!
Howling and off the cuff blood rituals
The 'skuk gag' session!
Being able to wound both warrior Eldriss at least once before the could cloak
Repeated sessions of "Can i hit someones legs before they pummel me into the mud"
Great otter fish comments... and shark boobies...
Nearly slipping on a bloody nose
Being proffered a log by a chocolate lab whilst dead
The zombie's outing to the ministry of silly walks convention

And many more both small and large

Starkly to the point - bloody good fun that. Much gratitude to the crew, good spirit kept in the face of funny walks, cold and varied bruising. Miraculous survival of my knees during the event - a relief (tho seized up now) . Nice to see new players embrace the dark daftness that is Riftworld and older ones still finding fresh juices to squeeze out of it. Also have to praise the uberdude that is snowy the site warden and his helpful offspring.

As mainly ref, some nice and amusing moments include:

watching with a mixture of satisfaction and a little disbelief the fear one can (still) generate with bits of black polystyrene

praying to their fishy so-called 'god' in a ritual and rifty area currently within the attention range of a very actual one...and getting exactly what they deserved for this madness.

ref-calls for Belraine - all of them filling me with enough glee to ignore any amount of sleet in the face as I dashed around site.

seeing usta (also one of my favourite npcs) continuing to mature as a character, riding out several potential storms before facing one actual one...and brutally putting it down (without even using her snackiest snacky!) with a little help from her friend (more foreigners interfering with her...)

nice pic Nath, my favourite SWC image ever.

some class pratfalls and multiple brutal take-downs seen at a distance causing some unseemly giggling.

having a feeling near the end that we might just have seen Eldriss as a character type actually work fairly well and not fail as monstrously as it might.

Some Ic perspective:

farley - reacting to his trauma and fear with increasing verbal abuse, paranoia and eventually drunkeness - tolerated for the most by the pcs - and his subsequent (unfortunate)'reward'/transformation when caught in the 'riftmail' for usta.

everything about spined wolves is a joy, especially to find the bizarre and unique situation of being able to hang around sizing up 'potentials' and the 'quality' of the pcs right under their noses with only ecker eventually bowing to the pressure to beat on me as is normal in a right-thinking world great element of surprise there Bacon - nearly had him...but then you let him roll to his feet...I loved the fact that you genuinely took me by surprise and made the spinedwolf confusion easy to roleplay.

lord blod - my favourite roleplay of the weekend. he gained a lot from that event. the various 'trade talks' were ace, going from eager discussion to queasy awkward pauses as pcs digested blod demands. blod is hilarious to play and it was great to have the chance to expose pcs to his somewhat distorted sense of values and his manias - several times I was glad the mask hid my grin at the expressions of pcs as blod would make sickening remarks in a totally calm and civilised tone as if he was merely discussing the weather.

genuine moments of unease (spookied, I can laugh now) - as the citier-in-distress being inexerably overwhelmed by bzombies ala DotDead and having to just curl up and take it (hoping the medfit wasn't going to cop it) wondering if I was ever to be rescued. another in the van scrambling for our one pistol as swcult swarmed the van.

eldriss 'chat' - air-quality snobbery, lots of staring and the inexplicable way we managed to signal our leaving and satisfaction in concluding the meeting with few words and some barely perceptable nods and shrugs. also feeling there that the eldriss concerned were all singing from the same hymn-sheet, crew and player alike.

being told to choke on someone....and the subsequent discussions about the poo

Fain2 (2/9/2010) raying to their fishy so-called 'god' in a ritual and rifty area currently within the attention range of a very actual one...and getting exactly what they deserved for this madness.

If only they had a sane Xadacian on patrol with them, ie, a Norther. Why they didnt just run away from the rift I shall never know...

Yeah, the crazy one Spanners could have 'influenced'!

**EDIT** I'm wondering now just how many more times it might be possible to achieve the unique Riftworld feeling of "Oh look, my IC boyfriend just turned into a dog". Twice so far! I mean come on, thats just silly!

It's uncanny that's what it is....obviously it's all your fault somehow.
The guys had a simple decision to make at the rift - the 'survivor' even kept insisting poor Spook leave, who couldn't resist his own curiosity until WAY too late.
Who knows, maybe if you go for the triple a special prize falls out.....

Thats where Spanners would have come in "Oi, I am more interesting than a bloody warp rift"

Hmm, so the hat-trick might bring me snackies?

Now I just need a volunteer for an experiment... I am honestly not so bad to roleplay with that turning into a dog is preferable, and I am generous with my wine and chocolatey snacks. I'm sure both Niel and Del can attest to both facts (if they know what's good for them ). I will just doom you to a wolfy end...

I had almost forgotten the hilarious conversation between Sunday's driver after the rescue and Belraine concerning synth meat being pointlessly artificial versus free-range quality reared Xephite real meat as barbaric. A fun-dialogue that, finishing in:
PC: "What's that made of you're wearing then?" [to the driver, apparently in a long leather coat]
Driver: "Synth leather."

That came up once before. I recall Ketta sharing City synthetic meat with Xenon back at Usta's 'inquest.' (Ketta preferred fresh fish, obviously)
