Yeah, sorry guys. Well, I'm not really sorry, cos we all did the right character thing. Shame it resulted in so many body bags!

I had fun. I am very tired. I am glad that Spanners was more cheerful again for the majority of the event because I really didnt want to do angst after Lyria.

Notable moments

  • "If you turn into a dog I will dump you, then shoot you." This was *not* a challenge Del! And I didnt mean this weekend. In the event, I just shot him. And Hank was so sweet with his quick hug and absorbing the strangled sob and 30 seconds loss of grip of his former sergeant's lover/executioner.
  • Letting the woman who had just executed her lover for being a dog take command. Why?????
  • Discussions about why Clan Doosh are better to work with than Clan Kharnan (biscuits and a more personable representative)
  • "Oh and just FYI, dont ever call me babe again." "Noted."
  • Tamarind running into the invisible Eldriss.
  • Plotting Ecker's death.
  • Chest parrying.
  • Realising I had mis counted my hits and was on zero to the chest and should therefore probably collapse, and deciding to have a fit of hysterical giggles first and collapse as appropriate when the others had the sense to fetch Spook.
  • Digger and his brilliant looting and collusion with our looting (then taking the stuff he'd colluded with us looting after we all died). As someone who played one of the original Read Me Westers, I'm proud of you.
  • Engineering. Its an expensive skill so being able to use it was appreciated. Even if I didnt get to find out what data I'd got from it.
  • Shortest. Lived. Character. Ever.

Less cool things

  • Van trips. Nice idea. BUt unpleasant in execution unfortunately.
  • Shared bunk rooms and my hearing going hyper sensitive was a bad combination. Fortunately I had an airbed in the car.
  • My fronds looked like crap. Next time they will be better. At least it gave me the chance to demonstrate some vanity about frond malfunction.
  • That my attempts to be helpful with transport was what doomed us.

I spent the week before the event going 'why do I do this again' but the event itself pretty much answered that

It was great fun trying out a different kind of 'contract', and surviving was the icing on the cake. Now I just have to remake my holsters (again, but properly I hope this time and not just the belt) and decide what I might spend my RP on.

Thanks to everyone (including the dead ones, players and crew) for making the event much much fun. I've been bouncing from exhausted to hyper since we left the site.

Highlights include:

*Having almost all the medics hit the deck in the very first encounter.
*Ecca's reaction when I forgot I'd had my medfit fixed... oops
*Picket with Raff (OC I'll miss the snarky picket chats, IC 'oh well, that's a shame, she was useful' )
*The constant one-upmanship between the Citier/non-Citier groups (which I was on both sides of on occasion, the joys of being a merc)
*Sharing mutual snark with Digger (charming, yes... that's one word for it)
*Discussions of methods of reproduction with the nanolords
*'Quick question, when was the last time you saw our cyberate friend? ... I hate being right'
*Making a not so subtle offer to Spanners and watching in amusement as they 'discussed' making the decision.
*Heading off into the darkness with only Elias Doosh for company despite knowing he hadn't been checked for shambliness recently. The resultant wander through the woods was AWESOME even without encountering anything, who knew two citiers could manage that well.
*Looking for snipers, and failing
*Two Citiers looking for two Xadacians 'They've been gone an awfully long time...' I still hate it when I'm right
*'That would be Doosh business'
*Holding my nerve in front of a whole load of wolf cultists... 'This rocket? Oh no, it is nothing to worry about'
*The sudden realisation that I'd completed the entirety of my contract AND survived

I look forward to returning as a new character some day so I can hear the actual IC opinions of Aneirin, noone ever speaks well of the dead (or simply absent) it seems

Can't wait 'til the next one.

I can say this was the MOST fun I've had in too long, and possibly the best way to de-stress after exams...

Highlights:
- Ecker's Description of Nanolords; "Well, they're human, and some of them don't look too bad... but you've gotta be careful as next thing you know POW!! Badger!!"
- Realising that actually Cyberates (or at least mine) don't actually have a Psi-Aura, so Psi-Sense would have always been "Nope"
- Having a tinted mask that allowed me to see NOTHING in darkness, then actually realising the Irony of Purchasing Infra-Red.
- Becoming visible next to Ara, and hearing, "Oh, there's two of them..."
- Capturing a Shambler! Then proceeding to realise why it is an 18+ event with the Eldriss & Nanolord participating in the Bondage session that followed
- Silently Subduing two Skirmishers moments before the Xadacian's got... Uuh... Massacred...
- Merc: "Well usually when you say 'We're all gonna be fine' something bad will happen..." Eldriss Warrior: "Hmm..." *In a mechanical tone, looking around expectantly* "We are all going to be fine" *Eldriss Shrug*
- Citier: "Oh look, he's back..." *draws pistol and goes to finish off the shambler* Fleir: *Turns invisible and appears behind said shambler, punching it in the back, despite a perfectly functional Braceblade...*

Lowlights:
- More Food Required
- Tinted stuff + Night = BAD

In all honesty though, I could have made the highlights list simply an account of the weekend, I loved it and am very happy that I've had such a fun start to Riftworld! Thanks to All Involved!!

*Turns Invisible without warning...*

Another good event.

- An ongoing sense of paranoria, with the pro-Eldriss vs. anti-Eldriss fractionalisation
- Taking part in Ecka's story arc, with the pro-Wolf vs. anti-Wolf fractionalisation (do you spot a trend here?)
- More 'my old friend has turned into a monster but I don't want to fight her' angst yet again. That's been happening a lot.
- long talks with bert's pragmatic grizzled old soldier eldriss.
- A player demonstration of the true power of teleport.

Credit to the crew for taking on 'shambling Z-word-we-don't-use' so often which have somewhat limited characterisation.

Oh, and on the subject of Lord Blod, have you seen his merchandise:

- A player demonstration of the true power of teleport.

It was fairly astonishing. One second there was a field full of players and angry looking Spined Wolf Cult types and the next there were some very confused Spined Wolf Cult types and an emply field.

We're going to have to try harder if we want to make run-outs challenging in future!

Sooo tired and achey! Great weekend!

And Sarah we knew we were walking to our death but it was the right thing to do!

Some highlights:

  • The van ride in was...interesting...
  • Being dropped straight away and realising the medics had too!
  • Realising the cyberate had wondered off and that we would probably have to shoot him when he returned.
  • The discusion on who was insane, South Xadacians for their new found religion, or North Xadacians for attaching lumps of metal to themselves.
  • Eldriss dancing!
  • Being fooled several times that the people running from shamblers and such were actually shamblers themselves.
  • Plotting Ecker's death
  • Haverford's attempt to expose our plotting of Ecker's death!
  • Picket! Especially with Aneirin, always so much fun!
  • The 'special effects' the creepy fog, various birds and dogs that made us jump!
  • Knowing we were walking to our death, but also knowing it was the right thing.

and many more that escape me right now.

though I am curious to know what was said by Haverford/Ketta/Mel about what happened with the (mass suicide?) of the Xadacians.

Let's see, there was so much going on but for me good points were:

- Dmitriy, the shortest lived character ever but he was killed by Usta, so at least that's something.
- The great otter fish discussions mainly for the look on Chris's face as I went into detail about the cosmology of the otter fish pantheon.
- The stress of being in charge.
- Rescuing some innocents and then having them come back with rewards for us.
- Being a hair away from shooting Ecker for her constant snide remarks and her propensity to try to take on the rather scary big gribblies.
- Getting the Worst Scout in the World award for my complete lack of recognition skills and inability to stay upright in combat for more than 3o seconds.
- Haverford, for completely losing it with me and for being accusatory yet evasive.

It was great fun, and I will be back with a new character next time .

And the chest parrying was not deliberate, I was a victim of circumstance.

Delwyn (2/8/2010) - Getting the Worst Scout in the World award for my complete lack of recognition skills and inability to stay upright in combat for more than 3o seconds.

Spanners had discussed that problem with Hank, and we agreed you needed remedial melee training. BTW: sword safely ensconsed with other swords to keep it company.

And Jo, that dog howling at the time Hank was being 'checked' was one of those moments of pure hilarity, as I started to sprint to the hut then realised it was a real dog not Hank.

Oh, that was SO much fun!!

Firstly, a huge thankyou to our great crew (and guest crew!) for getting right into it and pushing themselves hard. To all who helped with the takedown, including taking rubbish off-site, thanks! Faingod and I didn't have too much to do after everyone had gone, though having re-checked the site I couldn't find that fake severed scary-smallperson hand (I have visions of some poor young scout finding it...) Your help enables us to have good relations with the Wardens, wherever we go.

Right, since Fain and mini-minion are both taking an afternoon nap, here are my highlights, in random order:

• Getting to the site and realising we had the perfectly situated and colour-co-ordinated massive tent to play in! Yay!
• Nemmet traders: the unfolding horror of the gruesome trail (even though I laid it OOC); finding the headman and his Shambling daughter. The players hospitality and comfort. The Headman removing his precious headscarf and wrapping the bloodied doll in it like a shroud. Upon our return, leaving and then forced return, my NPC's trauma being made worse by having to confront the same people, reminding her of earlier events, the Headman accidentally calling me by his deceased daughters name (I nearly broke) and the wolfiness outside which I almost suicidally faced. An Eldriss appearing right next to this tense wreck of a Nemmet and nearly thwacking him with a sword.
• Usta's conquests (including Dana, wahay!). Not getting immediately jobbed by the players but having a chance to roleplay my favourite NPC.
• Pot-luck skirmisher rations and the distrustful Defender (did any players eat the random tinned goods?)
• Catching up with the Nanolords and finding out about Mr Grimm's new diet. Ugh.
• Pondering what the offspring of Toben and Perky Skirmisher might have been like...
• Sparring and fighting (having not practiced before the event, I was quite pleased to still have a decent fight in me)
• The massacre in the woods. I was wondering how long it would be before someone tried to snuff Usta. The Defenders' escape (lucky... this time).
• Having a Spined Wolf/ Warphound posse (but darn those pesky Citiers! and disappearing PC's)
• Visitation by Spined Wolf Farley / Watching Spooks' demise, both whilst trying to keep up appearances.
• Conversation with Defender Chambers over the mess table - she was trying to find out about the state of Com-Trow and a certain underground part of it whilst I was responding to awkward questions by telling truths...but not whole truths. That was hard but fun. Not sure when players had Usta figured out but since a few events ago when she suddenly grew an extra pair of arms, I suspect some characters have had their suspicions for a while.
• Beyonders/Nothingmen/Shamblers - cool to play and to fight against. Playing innocent NPCs and then coming back as the same NPC but not looking so good...seeing the players faces and making them work hard to keep themselves safe.
• Being an already terrified local, meeting PCs, being 'triaged' (I guess a sling and a painkiller doesn't = spend Medicpoints) then finding out the 'safe place' was being visited by the West Litside's version of the Bogeyman..and they were neither obviously scared of him nor fighting him!! I just don't get these foreigners...
•The Long Sneak - just three careful crewgals got all the way from deep woodland to the back door of the cabin. We were quite pleased with ourselves and did damage to boot
• Treacleblood. Nice touch but sticky.
• Getting to hang out with a group of good friends old and new and have a holiday from real life for a bit.

Thanks everyone, for your help, offers of help and your honest feedback. I'm as keen as you are to know what happens next! Now take it easy, you must be almost as shattered as we are

Not so, I managed it a couple times, including once getting chopped down for the first time practically on top of a patient-in-treatment - then watching everyone remember that I was going to get back up...
