We've been freestyling some handy reference points for people and these are our first thoughts.  Please remember, we've tried to make sure that none of the factions are purely good guys or purely bad guys -- that's for history to decide!

What have we missed off?  What have we got wrong?

Dawning Light - Spanish and Italian anti-fascist fighters in the 1920s and 30s, May 19 Communist Organisation, The Weather Underground, Black Panthers, Red Army Faction, Heaven's Gate, Seventh Day Adventism, and Aum Shinrikyo

Duke Ladrill's - Maoist Theory of People's War, a bit of Die Hard 2 and The Rock for their NPC leader, and now with the stirrings of Hordism there are shades of the Islamic Revolution (Iran) and the rise of the Taliban (Afghanistan)

Free Thought Radicals - Socialist Workers Party, National Union of Students, the trade union movement generally, insurrectionary anarchism

Velvet Glove - Mission: Impossible, Metal Gear Solid 2, Illuminati, Templars, NWO and Majestic 12

Wayfarers Guild - the Guild from Exalted, the film Lord of War, plus Halliburton, Blackwater and elements of the Mob

---
Joe Rooney - Battle Vegan

Insurrection LRP: high fantasy in a dystopian setting. Event Four is October 15th-17th 2010, at Consall Scout Camp Site, Staffs. Book now for a £10 discount!

Bladelands: Raoul Twice-Dead - all-round bad guy
EOS: staff - NPCing and fighting a specialty
Maelstrom: Carlito Rossini, Sol Igneus Co. - Flembic Weaverite explorer/adventurer/bailiff for hire
Odyssey: Mirrikh, Favoured Immortal of Shah Jalila of the Eyes of Darius. Died spilling Greek blood!

Typical, humans run into OUR holy place with an ancient artifact blowing up our people and themselves but still it's the Orcs that get the reference to terrorist suicide bombers :p

I am NOT going to throw LARP safe hamsters at zombies... or frogs!

Maelstrom: Private Simon, AKA Enforc-o-tron
Odyssey: Kafele Bakari, Bow wielding Egyptian in white tunic and leather armour, can't miss him. Venerating the great Phoenix by dying as often as possible.
Insurrection: Krull, Hero of the Commonwealth, Hero of the Resistance, neither one deliberate.
Crusades: Jonah, High Inquisitor with a taste (and new-found talent) for burning people
Masquerades and Massacres: Tristan Roth, Navy Commander. Turns out he wasn't out of his depth, just never tried standing up.

I could get really technical here, but :

a) it was the Crimson Blades, not the Dawning Light, who blew themselves and loads of orcs up :-p
b) I'm talking more about the Taliban from '96-'01 and the rise of the Iranian theocracy by military effort than latter-day terrorist activity. Ugluk is a guerrilla fighter, not a terrorist. For now.

Free Thought Radicals - National Union of Students

So they are basically meant to never get anything done

Bravery will take you into the most dangerous of places
Overwhelming firepower will see you safely through them

PD: Was: Borris, Tea Clubs human shield. Now: Kibidachi Yoshikazu, humourless, not bestest badger.
EOS: Malak, hungry orc number 5.
Insurrection: Tondur Anazon. The application of unwise science to the practice of warfare.
Zeitgiest: Maximillian Bergmann Schmidt. Delicious heresy (extra crispy).

Having been on the National Executive of that august organisation, I must say...yeah, kinda.  But they talk a good fight.  *grin*

Although, having, said that, this site is worth a read.
